  1. Moving my way through the acres of land, having shot the place alot I know where to be ready to react quickly etc hotsspots and what not, but shooting always catches you off guard. I came over a ridge, looked up and saw a nice pigeon at about 25m. Quickly adjusted magnification to 8 (Have been using higher mag now after seeing other peoples scope arrangement on this forum) raised my gun crosshair bang on the birds temple and crack, down it went. The bird was brain dead, it was obvious from the shot placement and just sheer impact of its head cracking. You know when you've put all the kinetic e
  2. A terrain once crawling and a haven for rabbits very quiet...
  3. Take note guys you can click on the pictures and you will get a bigger shot and see some things I've mentioned. Once again sorry for the lack of sheer action in my topics at the moment but thats the nature of the hunt sometimes! This picture is a closer shot of those power lines.
  4. Hi all, So last time I left a write-up, although I had fun, it didnt reap the bag one would be proud of (in its complete absence). As mentioned before the permission is deadly quiet everywhere, dont get me wrong their are pigeons and corvids everywhere but not within shooting distance unless ambushed from a hide, creeped up onto from a hidden area (very hard to do, even when they are relaxed and facing away at 40+ meters) or decoyed/baited. The general sparse nature of the place at the moment means that the three above methods for some reason or another are not as easy as summer, with ma
  5. Holy shit! This is rat hunters heaven!! I've never seen a single rat on my permission, although I know a pheasant farm where I think they have lots...may give them a call.. Keep going lads Jack
  6. Really good post mate, you werent joking about the footage! Same as festa, wish my weekend was as good, however there is always tomorrow morning if i can get up early enough.. You sure have alot of rabbits crawling about, I havent seen that many on mine in 6 months haha! They've had a complete change of behaviour and I dont know if its because of me or something else! Good stuff Jack
  7. Awesome video Zini mate, I do love the springers. Have only owned one PCP which was one of the Falcon FN series and was pre-owned, went into the gun-smiths to get a knife for general use and came out with a gun haha! However i returned it after a few days as although the guns seem to have a great reputation I had a feeling something wasnt quite right with it, whether it had taken a knock, not been maintained right or problems with the resevoir etc. So not wanting a grain of doubt in my mind about my equipment (after spending a fair bit of cash) decided I'd get the HW95k. I will get a PCP one d
  8. Hello mate, I used to use these little fellas or RWS Superfield which are exactly the same as the AA diablo fields... The skirt is a soft one but thats part of their accuracy and adaption to the barrell I feel. However I havent had a bunch as bad as that, I can put up with the odd ruined one or whatever but they are expensive buddy and I would go back to the shop and exchange them. The guys at the shop wont have a problem if you explain you know its not their fault; but at the same time they arent fit for use. Plus they will just send them back to the manafacturer themselves as I'm sure its no
  9. You need a calm day to zero properly anyway and you are always going to get human error whatever you do. I don't see how a computer can do a better job of working out the trajectory of a rifle than I (or anyone else) can by going out and shooting targets at different ranges. I agree mate but I think they are just pointing out its another tool to use or whatever All the best
  10. Hilarious. He will be the first to kick off when they shit all over his car or rip the bin bags out etc! Good Work!
  11. Awesome. Good luck with finishing the DVD. Jack
  12. Whopper bag, nice shooting mate. Jack
  13. I'm sure a fair few will do it buddy. If you went and had a look about see if they seemed to have an idea about air rifles (which I'm sure most old boys in gunsmiths will have started out years back on them), then maybe ask if I ordered a spring through their shop, which although will probably be more expensive than the internet, when you come to pick it up they may fit it for free. Because if you goto them with a new spring and say 'Can you fit this?' they will probably charge you a fair bit to fo it. May be les sof a spend to buy it throug hthem and get fitting for free. Who knows. I cant g
  14. Talk about being cut down in your prime! Nah dont look at it like that way mate, 3 times a year you can look forward to returning to it, and you wont become rusty, 'its the nut behind the butt' as someone once said on here. Are you still in the army then? Dont worry explaining if its complicated or personal. You will be missed mate especially some of the best air gun kill videos available on the net! Good luck and all the best Jack
  15. Hmm who's land is it? Maybe say you saw someone there? Who knows. Maybe just wait until you bump into them and just say its best if they dont come back again. Its quiet with my permission aswell at the moment mate, maybe its a combination of the weather and the ferret. Hope it sorts itself out! Jack
  16. When I first got it it was crawling with rabbits, was such a joy to shoot... Maybe knocked off 500 each over a year and then a huge wave of mixi came in a very wet rainy period and the poor fellas were riddled with it, There still there just laying low. Hopefully have more positive shoots to post in the next month. P.S Hope the others saw my note! All the best Jack Jack
  17. Good post mate. Probably were down the holes sh*tting themselves if the foxes were on the hunt. Its the time of year I think aswell mate I'm having real lack of rabbit on my permission, having to hunt feather for a bit. Wait until the summer mate put in that many hours and you will have a whopper bag I'm sure plus less cold hands! All the Best Jack
  18. Good observation on the earthworks mate, I'm studying archaeology and at first that rang alarm bells, the flooring looked potentially as old as the Romans if not before, however could be as new as the 50's! Its good finding all little bits lying around, us human have half made a mess over the years! Jack
  19. Hello mate, Good post but I got a couple of questions! Firstly, how did the 10 am shoot compare to the 6am shoot? Which quarry was there noitcebly less of? Rabbits I assume? And also your picture of that paving and old building foundations, any idea what they are? All the best Jack
  20. Most ceryainly had a more productive shoot than me mate! Good work keep it up. Jack
  21. Have done so mate cheers, I put it like that because I didnt want to be patronising and lecturing about needing an FAC when I'm sure he knows he would need one Tommy, Don't let people upset you buddy, Tommy mate I wasnt putting you down I just assumed that a new weihrauch springer would be pretty much as powerful as legally possible, I couldnt understand why you would get a new spring for it when the current one was sound! Hence thinking you were wanting to beef it up over legal limit. In reflection your post doesnt suggest that you just bought it at all, so apologi
  22. And an example of the pigeons. All sat in the tree, look how far away I am, they bolted after the second photo was taken when I had barely moved!
