Get the sender to mark scope as a gift and value is only $40 YOU WONT HAVE TO PAY IMPORT DUTY i do this all the time Good advice there - thanks for that! What is the name of the store you but yours from - if you don't mind me asking? Thanks Fastrac10

Thanks for that - will check them out! Cheers Fastrac10

Do you know if he got rid of the packaging, and did he pay any tax on it? The VX111 is a great scope. Did you make a good saving? Cheers Fastrac10

Hi Geordieh Thanks for that info. I was beginning to think that nobody on here has done this. Not sure if I would bring back a rifle though! So I just need to tell relations to ditch the packaging - but pack it safely and tell them it's not worth a lot. Sounds good to me! Thanks again!

Looking at buying a another rimfire soon. So I will need a new scope. Have some relations coming over from the US at the end of the month, so might get them to bring over a cheap Bushnell. Now I know if I wanted this sending over it would cost alot for delivery plus I would have import tax and vat to pay. This takes the cream off the job! If someone brought one over with them, does anybody know the law on this - or has anybody done this and know what is to pay? Or do I look for a secondhand one over here? Thanking all in advance. Thanks for that. I don't need super accuracy as I will be only shooting at close range. Who bad did these shoot, and for the money could I get something better? Cheers Fastrac10

Looking at buying a new air rifle to replace a very old Webley Vulcan. I'm looking at a Stoeger X20 .177 with a synthetic stock. There are supposed to be made by Beretta so they should be well made and last a long time. It's a legal limit gun which I want to shoot pigeons in and around sheds. Been quoted £140 for this gun whick seems like a good buy. Has anybody got one and what do they think? Thanks Fastrac10

Prvi Partizan PPU Ammunition
fastrac10 replied to fastrac10's topic in Reloading and Gun Maintenance
Are you getting it in Scotland? I tried and failed, so went the reloading route!! Peter from Tayside shooting supplies tried a couple of times, but failed on lead time.. Can you not find someone with a press that you can buy dies for? I did...accuracy is far better and a fraction of the cost. I would consider Privi if I could try a box, but i'm not going to buy a hundred until I know how it works.. Have been in touch with Henry Krank who sell it and they said they are quite happy to supply Weldon Gun who I buy my ammunition from. I like you would only like to try a box first to se -
Prvi Partizan PPU Ammunition
fastrac10 replied to fastrac10's topic in Reloading and Gun Maintenance
Thanks for that Mr L. If it shoots ok in Dekers Tikka then I would like to think it should be ok in the Sako. Sounds like I need to try some. Fastrac10 -
Like I 'm sure everyone on here know's Ammunition prices are going up and up. The PPU .243 90gr at £49.50 looks very cheap. Has anybody used this in a Sako 75 and if so how does it group. I would guess not as good as some other premium makes. At the moment the gun is grouping half inch with Norma and Sako rounds at 100yards. I would be very interested to hear other peoples views. I know the cheapest option is to reload but I really don't shoot enough to justify all the gear! Many thanks Fastrac10

oops! have I damaged my bore???? (.17 HMR)
fastrac10 replied to danebrewer10's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Glad to hear everything is fine. I have a Kleen Bore kit for mine - Yes I know Dewey are the best! It has patches that are 2cmx2cm to patch out after a good clean. They are a perfect size for the job. Deker I, like I'm sure many others on here have it imprinted on our brains your views on bore snakes! You of course are so right - DON'T go there. Buy a proper kit and look after your gun well. After all the cost involved is so small compared to the cost of the gun! Fastrac10 -
Well said Mr L - couldn't have put it better myself! I wish people would think before they post! Fastrac10

What sort of money would you be looking for that? Send a PM if you'd rather not say on site. Thanks Fastrac10

any tips, other than not to shoot myself?
fastrac10 replied to JPTfellterrier's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Some good advice there. We all have to start somewhere, but maybe a .243 is a bit up the ladder to start with. [no offence!] A shotgun would be a good starting point and a lot cheaper to use. You have one of the best clay shooting grounds near you at Bywell. Book a lesson there with a coach and you will learn alot. I was there back in November with a group and it was amazing how many people had dominant eye trouble. Going back again at the end of May. They would get you off to a very safe start and maybe your boyfriend can also keep helping you. Good luck and safe shooting! Fastrac10 -
I have a T8 on my Sako .243 which cuts the noise down very well. Has been said here they don't last long which is true. I tried a Jet Z compact on my rifle and this was better. It made the rifle more balenced and was quieter than the T8. Main problem is it's not cheap but I think worth it. I'm saving up to buy one to replace the T8. Cheers Fastrac10

Yes agree with both. A fantastic rifle but only pick one calibre. I have one and I think it's a great piece of kit. Not the cheepest out there - again has been said already there are other cheaper guns. If you do go for one - you will love it. Do a search on here for previous topics on the Quad. Cheers Fastrac10

Liam read an artcle in a magazine of a guy that was taking long shots. He was using an RPA .243 70grain factory loads. He was shooting 400-600yards. As has been said here you have a lot of factors to look at, wind been a big one at this range. He took a shot at a rabbit at 545yards. He had a range finder Lecia CRF1200 you have to alter scope at this range, hold over or mil dots are no use. The thing that got me was at that range with a 10mph cross wind moved the bullet 31in! So you need to measure wind speed and direction. His success rate was 70%. It's a whole new ball game shooting at long

Whats with the prices of O/U shotguns?
fastrac10 replied to DDD's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
the prices of new guns is up and looks like they will go up more. This may take up the price of secondhand, but lets face it - it's a buyers market out there at the moment. Where abouts in North Yorkshire are you from and where have you been looking? Cheers Fastrac10 -
What sort of scope are you using?. Could this be at fault, when you alter scope does it move as per click adjustment. I had this trouble with a Hawke scope. I think everything else has been suggested. Cheers Fastrac10

Well just to keep you up to speed on my Sako75. Tried some lighter bullets, Hornady V-Max 58grain and Norma 58grain. Seemed to work and got groups down to about an inch. Was out for a fox the other night and missed! So back at paper targets and poor grouping again. A trip to my gunsmith to see whats going on. I left the gun with him. When I went back he said it was shooting all over the place. So he gave it a once over and found that where the front scope ring fastens to the base the screw was a fraction slack. Some loctite and re-tighten and the gun is shooting half inch groups at 100 yards.

.243 T3 what have you found best (factory ammo)
fastrac10 replied to Smudge00's topic in Reloading and Gun Maintenance
A mate of mine has a T3 and he uses Hornady 58grain for fox and Sako Gameheads 90grain for deer. He swears by these and will not use anything else! Fastrac10 -
It's a Sworovski - Enough said - a top scope! You must have paid more that £ for it? Fastrac10

theres too many choices ! & its a big step to fork out the cash on a moddy when its not known which moddy will suit each rifle.. the main 3 ive been looking at are the Ase utra, reflex T8 & the wild cat.. i like the idea of it returning back over the barrel to take some of the length off.. one thing with the T8 that interested me was they state that theres no need for stripping down to clean, but after taking my sak off after a few 100 shots & seeing the build up i cant see how a moddy can go without a clean.. i will have my rifle by next week & want to sort a m

Where to buy riflescopes in UK?
fastrac10 replied to mauritz's topic in Reloading and Gun Maintenance
Try looking at www.opticswarehouse.co.uk Always a good idea to have a good look around and compare prices. One thing is for sure they are all going up! Swillington shooting supplies are also worth a look. Also look at secondhand scopes. Hope this helps. Fastrac10
