  1. i use autarky as a base food. dogs seem to do really well on it. its wheat glutton free which is a good thing. its about 15 quid a sack which is probally the cheepest wheat glutton free food i can find. i try to feed barf as much as poss though but its not allways poss. cheers.
  2. looks like you've got your hands full there mate. some nice colours too.
  3. fooking amazing!!! what a top bloke, bet you had a great day. i once went fishing with ronnie o'sullivan but you've beat that hands down.
  4. my bitch has broken her back toe, 2nd one in from the outside. ive tried taping it to the other toe but she just bites it off. do you think it will heal ok if left to heal on its own??
  5. dont take this the wrong way but do any ever get away. it seems a tad unfair on the hare with 2 dog and a bird and prob not many dykes, drains and woods to escape in,
  6. hi all, im after a pair of bino's for general mouching, dont know much about them so wondered if anyone can recomend any. cheers.
  7. not all good dogs produce good pups though which is a shame. like someone said before if you have got a good dog and want another one like it, you might be better using the sire coz you know he produces. Out of all the good constant hare dogs ive seen, none are out of a pure greyhound bitch. You can get a fast dog out of the slips with plenty of stamina. If your dog is lacking in either one of these then maybe there not as good as they should and maybe should not be bred from. if you want a fast dogs out of the slips then why breed from a slow dog?
  8. if you want coursing dogs then why would you wanna use a greyhound?? All a greyhound adds to the mix is size and speed. Use a saluki lurcher every time, just use a fast one and not a plodder. there is plenty out there.
  9. but its not a coursing dog though and that was the topic question
  10. different kind of stamina that mate. same as a pit bull...they can fight for a long time but its not coursing stanima. salukis know when to turn on the presure and when to lay back a little. mine only runs flat out when he needs to if you know what i mean. im not saying that non-saluki lurchers carnt course hares but it really is horses for courses. cheers.
  11. horses for courses. he's oviously got these dogs for a reason and to suit your style of hunting so good luck with them mate. Think they look in good condition. you dont buy a saluki for drawing foxes and you dont buy a bull dog for match coursing, simple as. hope they turn out as you plan mate, .
  12. hi all. Gutted 2 hares today and both were pregnant does. not something i like doing really as i class hares as sport and not really pest controll like rabbits are. This seems to be getting earlier each year, which is a shame as the hunting season seems to be getting shorter and shorter Anyone else noticed this in other parts of the uk? cheers.
  13. this happened to my bitch a while back. The nail grew back but at a funny angle. Dosen't cause her any probs though.
  14. she is saluki/grey x 3/4grey/bull. i bred her last summer mate.
  15. just got back from taking my pup lamping. its the 2nd time ive took her out and after 4 runs she picked one up and fetched it back live to hand!! shes only 8 months old so im more than happy with her progress.
  16. what a question. the 90's is a 10 year period. dogs that ran well in 97,98 was not even born in 91,92. And how can you pick one dog. Depends which club you ran in and which group of lads you ran against. i know some really good dogs but because they dont run in the foley most will never of heard of them.....
  17. my saluki takes fox day and night. He picks his shots though so some get away but his speed and nose make up for that though.
  18. i put my saluki/grey over my bull/grey bitch. hes not a 1st cross though. all the good saluki cross ive seen are generations of saluki/grey and saluki lurchers. The pups are 8 months now and coming on great.
  19. i put my saluki/grey over my bull/grey bitch. hes not a 1st cross though. all the good saluki cross ive seen are generations of saluki/grey and saluki lurchers. The pups are 8 months now and coming on great.
  20. well done. nice looking dog. how old is it and what cross is it?
  21. i should't worry to much about permission mate. Get a dog first. you carnt really ask a farmer to do his vermin control and say, thanks i'll be back in a year when my pups big enough! :icon_redface:Good luck with the dog mate cheers.
  22. they looked like fast dogs, but not very sporting. no need for the second dog to be slipped.
  23. load of shit. 2 dogs on a kick up. if that happened in the coursing club im in you.d get kicked out and would't get invited again.
  24. my mate own's ricky now and we go out most weeks together so ive seen this dog work all quary this last season. 100% dog.
  25. what you've got to consider is the type of land you hunt and what you want the dog to do when fox or rabbit goes to ground. Terriers are good bushing and tracking dogs but will follow the rabbit or fox down a hole, even if its a badger hole! this can cause problems if you haven't got permission or you dont carry a spade. i owned a terrier once that i could call out, but ive also seen ones that wont come out untill dug till, and not all holes are digable remember, therefore a bigger dog with spanial or beagle may be more suitable. cheers.
