  1. That's just one picture I tried to download to see if it works.
  2. I'm just trying to add pictures but it keeps coming up the photo bucket thing and not the actual pictured???
  3. Peddler and sounds like he keeps his dogs like hounds. Not my cup of tea.
  4. I think I read somewhere that each inmate costs tax payers £1000 per week! !
  5. My parents got 2 lurchers when I was 4 when we moved to the country as pets. I used to love it though when they chased stuff, offen by mistake...and after years of begging for my own they finally let me have a pup from there last litter. I was about 10/11 years old. I'm 32 now and had them ever since. It's only in the last 8 years though since I joined the eelc that i started hunting with others, before then I was always going solo!
  6. Hi all. Just a query really as I'm not a fisherman. I live next to the beach and walk the dogs on there everyday. What I was wondering, is there any type of fish I could catch by leaving a line cast in at say low tide and returning next low tide. Similar to setting a rabbit snare at dusk and returning at Dawn. Just thought it would be a handy way of catching a few fish and adding a bit of fun to the walk. I know it's prob not very sporting but any info is welcomed. Cheers.
  7. A lot of good dogs will turn there hand to most stuff, but you'd never get a dog that excels at all lurcher work. My old saluki cross can catch 3/3 hares and I take him foxing with the terriers catching bolters....but he'd never stick his head down a hole so you carnt say he excels at terrier work! Likewise, dogs that do, that I've seen, you couldn't take on a days coursing, which is different to catching the odd hare.
  8. It's really good stuff but expensive!
  9. Post some pics of the dog on it's own. I like to see a nice russel. Cheers.
  10. So here's a question, if you was breeding coursing dogs, would you rather use a good working dog, but from unknown parents or would you rather use a dog from the best blood lines available, but is only a pet and has never been worked? And I don't mean a failed worker, but one thats never been tested. There is a big difference between the two.
  11. Not sure I agree with leaving your dog for a full 2 days without anything to eat???? Have heard of folk feeding 6 days out of 7 which would be 24 hours without food but 48 hours at one time seems an awful long time? Anyone else do this??You've worked you maths out wrong mate, missing out a day is feeding every 48 hours. If you feed every day then that's 24 hours between feeds.
  12. Nice looking dog mate. Looks strong. Was there many rabbits about on the dales, as I used to go up there a couple of times a year, but I've heard this year the rabbits are very sparse, probably due to all the snow?
  13. Looks a good way of having fun out of season. Stops them getting board. Nice one
  14. Good post inan, mine too turn there nose up at pheasant and goose and ducks and stuff! Shame really as there easy to come by.
  15. My first ever lurcher would catch winter fen hares regular..but as I was only a kid I never travelled far from the house. But in them days the most I ever caught in one day wound be 2 as they was bloody heavy to carry! But looking back I don't think my dog had another in the tank and the 3rd hare would probably see the dog just running behind it. She was the sister to stats fly and cass, so was beddy, collie, greyhound. She was no match for my saluki type lurchers now on daytime hares, but then on the other hand she was not fed and conditioned the same to fairly compare them.
  16. My pup had a black stripe running down the length of his back. Now he's 6 months old it's completely gone.
  17. My mates old saluki x bitch. I must have seen her run over 100 hares in her life time and seen her catch about 5! same with rabbits. She was a lovely looking dog though and a nice pet for his kids. Died last year at about 12 years old.
  18. One bitch that sticks in my mind was my mates dog called chi, pronounced shy. She was bred by stat and many thought the litter would be too small for hares, as they only made about 23" max. But she killed hares for fun on the fen and often made them look easy. She was a good all rounder but the owners love was hares.
  19. No probs. Out of interest how is yours bred...is judge the sire?
