This one is beddy/grey/whippet… she has a much better coat than my 1st cross. -

I’ve got a young beddy/grey.. not a first cross.. she’s totally different.. thick coat, strong as an ox too… I think she will turn into a much more useful lurcher. -

I’ve got a first cross.. she has a great nose and will hunt cover really well… the down side is, she has a shit linty coat, so suffers in the cold rain. She’s not really fast enough, and she’s not big enough for most of the gear she hunts up in cover… but, she’s a great pet.. hunts really well, stock broken, retrieves etc… but she’s only 18 inch. -
It’s not just dog food that’s gone up it’s everything… your weekly shop has doubled so obviously dog food will go up.. I buy tripe from a pet shop, and chicken and fish from the supermarket. It’s not cheap to feed a couple of dogs, but it’s still a cheap hobby. I’ve just spent £100 of fuel for a days ferreting in the dales ?… compared to fuel, £20 on a bit of meat is nothing in comparison.

Cruel if you ask me, catching gazell then dropping… I don’t care that it’s their way…. So is f***ing young girls , that’s their way… and I don’t like that either

I think if there were big cats, then they would be seen a lot more regularly… we don’t have vast areas of woodland etc, and I think someone lamping, bird watching or shooting would have seen one. Especially with a thermal.

From what I’ve read on Lincolnshire police, I think hare coursing can now be a 6 month prison sentence. The big one is you can now be arrested/prosecuted is you caught going equipped. Although this is a grey area as what constitutes “going equipped”? Obviously getting caught in a field with a dog, slip lead, and thermal would be that… but what about waking on a public footpath with a lurcher, that’s passing through a field etc.

Nice… is it not coursing bred then?

I’m hoping it will put a few of the wankers off.. the ones who come mob handed and drive the fields…. Once they’re f****d off, it will leave the rest of us to crack on.

I’ve got both of them.. I do like the fenix one though.. the light isn’t as good as my old striker but it’s half the size and a lot lighter.. it’s as bright as the striker but once a fox or something turns is back, I think it’s harder to see with the fenix.

It’s the best bedding.. holds it shape well, dosnt get wet and mushy, and dosnt smell and get dusty like straw.. if your dogs are in a run it the best bedding to use.
-
There very cheap, I’d say probably one of the cheapest dogs around… probably because there not that popular with non-hunting folk. But if your thinking of getting a lurcher, I assume you’ve already done your research on health issues etc?

I’m so impressed that they have a 4k HD recording device while digging a hole with their bare hand without any shoes on… f***ing legend
-
Nice dogs.. that’s some pretty bad injuries.. hope you have a good, trouble free season, and I look forward to seeing your posts.
-
How much do you want for it, in the condition it’s in?

I went out digging with a border terrier a few years.. probably the best locating and finding dog I’ve seen.. we did 2 massive ranging earths. The younger black dogs struggled to find, and keep in one place.. we entered old faithful and she found and held both times in the same morning..

I wired mine through a room thermostat.. that way it clicks on and off throughout the night.
-
Let’s be fair though, unless your into lurchers or know someone who does… how would you expect most of the general public to know what one is? My neighbour asked me yesterday if my ferret was a stoat. I think we forget that most people arnt into hunting and all the general knowledge that goes with it.

I had a genuine 3/4 grey 1/4 bull. Very fast… had thin skin and not much fur, so didn’t like the cold n wet too much.. ok when hunting, but when stood still for long periods would feel the elements. A powerful bitch but she wasn’t a single handed dog.

Try Lidl or Aldi, I get mine from there, a small tin is less than 50p I think
