  2. The missus was out with the two youngsters this morning just giving them a walk out before work. I get woken up with a call at 6.50am, saying Alice has got a rabbit. I said great bring it home then, the missus shouts its still alive. (not only her first rabbit but retrieves is back live as well) I said you better neck it then, she says I cant. Anyway in the end the dog sorted it. The youngster was a rescue so I haven’t done much training with her so was surprised about the live retrieve. I hope this is going to be one of many now and as the other youngster has seen it now maybe she wi
  3. Im beginning to think my youngster is useless, (when I say youngster is she still cause shes 2yr in 4 weeks). The problem is I dont think she is ever going to pick up/kill anything. She flushes them, chases them, BUT wont pick them up. She had so many chances with rabbits and squirrels where shes actually caught them in the open and they have just sat there waiting to die, but all she does is nose them to make them run more, its as if she just loves the chase. Is there anything I can do to make here start picking them up/killing. Or is she just never going to do it. Any ad
  4. Hello Matt. Ive got a Ibizian x grey which was a rescue as well. Been trying to get her working but it hard work. She hunts up to much and gets stuck on bushes where there is only old smells. She yaps alot when chasing as well. I agree that she is very keen and got a lot more stamia than my lurcher (collie grey whippet), but not as quick either.
  5. nice looking dog mate does he yap behind quarry i have just spoken to a man who run 2 ibizan hounds back in 1982 and he said they were really nice dogs but opened up behind quarry. Yes she does yap behind quarry, it must be in their breeding, its quite funny sometimes.
  6. Heres a pic of my Ibizan/Greyhound cross. Haven't had her that long still trying to train her up she was a rescue. She not as quick as my other youngster which is a grey/whippet/collie x Been trying to train them both up on the lamp but its going slow, espacially as I have a lack of rabbit round here. They are both very keen on charlie as you can see in the last pic!!!! :D
  7. Heres my bitch whippet grey collie cross I thought she was very similar to ripstops bitch she seem game for everything as well
  8. Your very lucky to get one. We have been trying to get one of those for months. All the breeders want at least £800 for one and to tie you into a non breeding and showing contract. It’s a nightmare.
  9. Cheers everyone for all your replys. Will be working on the pup over the summer for next season.

  12. Hello Everyone As you can see I’m a newbie to the site. Have had two lurchers for the past 13 years haven’t really hunted with them much just caught the old rabbit etc when we came across them. We lost the black one at the start of the year but now have a new girl to replace him. I rekon she is going to be a great hunter. She goes after everything especially the fox that comes in the back garden. Wondering if anyone wouldn't mind me coming along with you more experienced boys, just to see what shes like with more experienced dogs. Learning the lamp etc. If she is any good I‘m hopi
