i have a 55 plate warrior with the power chip upgrade which has imrpoved perfromace and MPG. love it, goes anywhere does anything, i can fit 3 big dogs eith ease it the back, great for lamping, putting deer in the back of etc the only thing i can say about alot of lads that have 4x4's and especially L200 is that you need to keep up the services history, at the end of the day you can do a basic service yourself in a couple of hours....if you can't be bothered or are to tight to do it then don't buy one. i wonder how many of the above bought their trucks with full dealer service hist

sorry bud only just seen the post if they can lick the stone itself they may take too much salt and won't be there for very long doing it mate. if you can cut off a tree, fix a post at around 6ft and put it on top the salt runs down the post and they can lick it off/eat soil from the ground containing the salt. beware of putting the stone too low as the fox will gladly scat all over it!! often people put roofs over the stone defeating the object completely,it should be open to the rain. waidmann cheers mate.

Well i have to say that this is exactly how i feel! it truly is down to the situation. I haven’t ever shot a dog and i don’t think i could bring my self to do it! i have 3 dogs and i would like to think that unless the dog in question was rabid or totally unapproachable my a dog warden there would be no need for me ever to do it. I know people who have shot people lurchers who are poaching there deer...i would not fancy shooting any one dog...let alone if the owner was near by...asking for a severe kicking regardless of whether they are poaching or not! I have recently been asked to t

good pic mate! what gun is that? -
I am really pleased to see that people agree that there is no difference. I suppose that when you are stalking deer, that meat is potentially going to either earn you a lump of cash or put meat in the freezer, due to it being such a large animal people will always be a bit more respectful as you can't really put them in the "pest" bracket along with foxes as they are very "majestic" looking. if my memory serves me right Deker shot a fawn not so long ago and it caused uproar on here!!! Why? I personally wouldn't shoot fawns but only because I don’t have a high level of deer that

ok, had a debate with a friend recently about how people view the different quarry that we shoot. As far as I am concerned a life is a life whether it is a rabbit, fox, deer or whatever.....however some people view deer as totally different to other "pest" species...why is this? If you’re going to shoot something surely it doesn’t matter what it is or if it’s young or old? male or female? ..........or does it?

haven’t read most of the answers so far but my recent experience may be of help: I recently purchased a 6.5x55 and zeroed it with out a mod....although I developed a flinch and couldn’t seem to shake it after zeroing......again like you I had been using rim fire for a long time. my mentor told me about "the eternal second" which is actually the split second between your brain telling your finger to pull the trigger, and you actually pulling it....you are expecting a big bang and a smack in the shoulder, which for that split second you compensate for by flinching! He had a friend who c

sage - i have also asked many questions on cleaing rifles and how to go about it blah blah. i have fiends who have never cleaned their centre fire rifles and they are still good after many years of use....like 20+ years and many rounds fired. However when i recently bought my Tikka T3 lite 6.5x55 helston gunsmith advise to clean regularly. My originial mentor cleans his barrel with bore guide, rod and all the other relative stuff every 30 shots or so. can we have some facts about how often or not it is worth cleaning a barrel please? i would really appreciate it. And if yo

never clean mine. i shoot subsonic ammo that has that waxy coating. none of my mates clean their .22LR either. in fact a lot of my friends don't clean their centre fire either!

5 in the lamp last night
langouroux replied to Treacle Trackpad's topic in Deer Stalking & Management
lamping any quarry takes the skill and the thrill out of stalking it in the first place, ok this might not be true with fox and rabbit or any other vermin as the bottom line is you need to control them by any means possible, but i think a shootig deeer in the lamp is different as identification in nearly impossible.
