  4. looks like a nice pup, i have found that not asking to much to young from alaunt / mastif type breeds they are very slow to mature and sholdnt be expected to do things as quickly as other types of dogs, however they are very inteligent and as i say, my alano x is bit of sa multi tasker, which is good.
  5. thanks for that guys and gals, some good ics and info there, looking like it will next next summer before i can actually get one. looks like my alano will have to keep multi tasking for now!
  6. now then people, I know that the alaunt topic has been up here on a few occasions, what i would like to know is who is out there that owns them just out of interest more than anything. amd if anyone ahs any pics of their dogs...as you can tell by my beddy/whippet topic...i love seeing the pics! My alano espanol / alaunt or whatever you wanna call him is a bit of a multi tasker, are other people's alaunts like that? or just used for running and holding etc? anyone use them for marking rabbits when ferreting? happy hunting, langouroux
  7. i have already got an Alano topper, as bullmastiff says he has awesome bite power etc. I would lke to put him to studd with a proper running dog really - i think it would be an awesome cross, but realistically it probably wont happen as i dont know anyone that would be up for it.
  8. thansk for the pics people much appreciated, theat little white pup is a stunner! wallop: where in herts are you? funny really cos i am from hemel but living in kernow...and lovin it for the past 8 years!
  9. if your a keen cook...and like curry then here you go! i done this recipe for some who wanted a rabbit curry but i do the same with venison. Basic Rabbit Curry (Simplified Version – Believe it or not!) For about 6 People Rabbit legs and saddle enough for 6 people 1 cup oil (Veg or Olive) 2 Large Onions 6 Cloves 6 Cardamoms 2-3 medium pieces of cinnamon bark (Or powdered cinnamon) Fresh coriander (Optional) 2 tsp (tea spoon) Ginger (can be bought pre-blended in jars) 4 cloves Garlic (can be bought pre-blended in jars) 1 ½ tin chopped tomatoes 2 tsp sugar (Optional)
  10. for gutting rabbits the only contenders as far I am concerned is a lambs foot...this is because I gut from the sternum down to the belly because its one of the fastest ways to gut imo. And the lambs foot has a blunt back edge so it doesn’t puncture the stomach  For deer I use either Buck knife 110 folding hunter or my opinel depending or which one I have forgotten! haha but I am upgrading to the EKA swing blade asap....fecking amazing! I don’t touch anything with gut hook personally as the hook gets in the way when bleeding deer etc.....not that I shoot enough to worry about it
  11. i must have missed this thread! hello potstillgold...long time no speak!!! i hope you and your pack are well. awen: did we speak on the phoen once upon a time?

  14. Hello all, The decision has been made to get a beddy whippet next summer, I'd like some general info about them and what to look for, and what to avoid if poss? I have been told they are a good first time lurcher owners? It will be my first running dog although I do have other working dogs, and have lots of support from other running dog owners etc. I'd like to see some pics of the dogs you own…especially any “action” pics if poss! Cheers langouroux
  15. Hello boys and girls, A friend and I have an onging debate, and I wanted to know what you lot do in the extreme cold that we have had? My dogs live in my porch there isn’t any heating out there. And in the -10 weather we have had I put a heater out there to keep them warm. My mate reckons I am being soft…… But they’re not husky’s !!! If your dogs are kenneled do you make any extra effort to keep them warm? My mate has his dogs in the garage, and my argument is that dogs find it difficult to keep weight on the cold…at least mine do anyway. If your dogs are kennel
  16. if they want to take you out they should be up to speed to the laws mate!
  17. Not sure how the basc underwriters would define payment in kind. But the revenue class bed/breakfast meals/drinks as payment. To cover yourself phone BASC first as the cost of a call could save you the chance of aggro later. I know it sounds like i am pouring cold water on your idea's but cover yourself ATB Coldweld its good advice coldwell, better to be safe than sorry!
