  2. were the 17 shot in the lamp? good shooting mate well done.
  3. if it says it on your ticket then you can shoot it as far as i knew! ask "mr Logic" he will know.

  5. ages i go i put up a story about my first ever hunt in SA - got very mixed replies from people telling me well done for sticking at stalking in the UK, to telling me to give up as my heart wasn't in it! Clearly I havent given up, and as some members will know i have just shot my first fox! so i can now complete my NVQ in game and wildlife magaement.....hooray! anyway I have finally got round to digging out the pic from the depths of my old PC to here it is. hope you like it.
  6. thanks again guys...i think im gonna go 6.5x55 as this is currently what i am stalking with i have shot a fox at 15 yards with it and a roe buck 140 yards and there is virtually no need to make an adjustment in the cross hair...... or .308 as it is already on my ticket. peace.
  7. very nice mate....what did you do with them all?
  8. well done mate, shooting under pressure is never easy for any of us.
  9. Oh yes, the exploding arse technique! I've used it a few times, until I tried doing it with a pregnant doe.. (..and it was in Feb before anyone calls me an unsporting twat! ) wish i wasnt eating a bowl of museli!
  10. most probably from being shot, rather than the gutting, were not trying to say this is the best way on earth, but a quick method of gutting lots of rabbits in a short time, I dont know about everyone else, but at 03-30am in the morning, when its just starting to spit with rain, I want to get the gutting finished quick and onto the journey home for anyone worried about the odd burst bit here and there, carry on with your own particular method Tried it myself at 2.00 this morning...allways one to try something new Well, without doubt it is very quick...picked it up in a couple of rabbi
  11. that sounds about right... i think it had a sort of fishy twang to it?? tried kangaroo and emu as well... to me kangaroo just tastes like tough beef and emu was like tough chicken!! hate to say it mate but the kangaroo . emu you ate must have either been a shit cut or and old animal, i lived in oz for 9 months and regulary ate 'roo and emu its a fantastic meat. as for croc / gaiter again it should be tender and juicy and yes it does have fishy twang to it. imapala is very strong widerbeest is awesome on ther BBQ kudu is awesome especially biltong / jerky
  12. Cheers for that mate, Who are the best kind of people to use as referees? I always use the landlady of my local pub for refferences but not sure she be suitable for shotgun license.. Also do I need to show gun safe when they come to see me at home? i used my boss ( i worked in finance) your bank manager, doctor ( mine turned me down as i am never ill and he didn't really know me well enough) and my nest mate who i have known for over 10 years. anyone that hold a decent title for their job really. and your mate who you are gonna shoot clays with might be a good one.
  13. Always goes to show mate, always ident the target before you pull the trigger, And well done for holding back until sure.... ATB. Snap. Too right. I read about a guy who killed his 14 year old nephew. Out lamping, picked up the lad's eyes, 22lr at close range. If in doubt don't. Ric killed his nephew? thats gotta be a hoax? who the hell lets there nephew run in front of a gun at night? nutters!
  14. awesome mate .... get some pics of the little nipper, he'll want them to show his kids when he is older.
  15. Agreed HMR is not really a fox calibre. But will Beagle get a centrefire on his first FAC? Best bet might be to go for 22lr to start then put in for a variation for a CF in a year or two. Ric lr does ricochet though i got .308 on my first ticket a year ago, but with a condition to only be used with " an experienced centre fire user" but make sure that you have the relevant quarry put on your ticket as weel mate, my ticket actually states fox, deer, vermin.
  16. its relatively easy to get a shot gun license mate, you don't need "land" like you do with a rifle, as long as you fill in the forms correctly and get decent referees you should be fine.
  17. hi mate dunno if you have seen this months sporting rifle magazine? but there is guy in that that is an invalid stalker...he has a quad with a rifle "boot" check it out this will probably solve your problem.
  18. jesus! thanks foir videoing that for me mate! that is some serious Vorsprung durch Technik ! defo going to give that a try! its shockingly fast! didnt look like you really apply that much pressure to the initial tear either.
  19. yer will do mate, they'll probably run in the other direction!
  20. thanks guys i'll update on my next trip
  21. how come people like people shotting foxes and rabbits this time of year and they cry when people go lamping with dogs..>??????????????? i'd love to go with dogs personally just know anyone down here that does the business.
  22. So last night i went stalking with my mate / trainer, he isn't to well at the moment so he opted for a night in a high seat, fine by me as i was up at 5 am rabbit shooting, then laying a sleeper railway garden stair case all day and was totally shattered. We crossed the field to get to the high seat, but the bullocks were a little to interested in us and they started to freak me out a bit hahaha we reached the high seat and the rain came down, a red hind stood up and ran off to cover ( or i spooked it ) . No roe bucks showed, so just before last light my mate said he would squea
