i've settled it once and for all! i rang the sportsman gun centre and put a deposit on a tikka T3 lite 6.5x55 picking it up end of jan! thanks for all the input lads. i finally made my mind up!

Ultimate all purpose hunting round for Europe is the 6.5x55. Full stop. Ric well ricw all the charm of a low flying brick as usuall! although you do have a point, as i have learnt how to stalk with a sauer 6.5x55 but its a wee bit on the pricey side! i did look a tikka in 6.5 and my friend can home load for me.......maybe that is a good choice!

contraversial foxes x2 ??
langouroux replied to langouroux's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Just a hint mate.If you fill the cavity with salt(Be sure to pack it tightly) and leave it for 2-3 weeks then simply tap the salt out you get a better result plus you dont get the discolouration you get with meths and it won't stink of meths for the next two years. Also if you cut the base of charlies tale as you say you don't need to split any sticks simply grab hold tight with both hands put your foot into the flanks of charlie and pull as hard as you can,A little twist to get it started and "pop" of it comes. Please dont think I'm dissing your methods mate because im honestly not, just tr -
contraversial foxes x2 ??
langouroux replied to langouroux's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
yer i physically skinned the tails: 1: cut a ring at the base of the tail making sure its not to deep 2: "peel" back the skin a little 3: get a stick and split it in half, the place the flat side of each stick either side if the ring you have cut, pinch together and pull firmly. The tail will come clean off leaving the actuall tail bone on the fox. 4:then soak it in methalayted spirits for 6 weeks and it wont smell and then you can use it for a that feather duster you wanted! I only learnt this the other week! my first two are still soaking. -

went out for some rabbits with other night with one of my mates who passed my DSC level 1 with, got to the first place and not a rabbit to be seen!! some say easterly wind does it??!! any way on to the next farm and we are barely in to the field, on goes the lamp and 3 foxes are sitting there against the hedge line! now i haven't shot any foxes on this land as yet, mainly because i haven't seen any......but there is plenty there now! both of us only had .22LR with us ( and yes we both have .22 for foxes before any one starts yapping on) so my mate put on the red filter and gave a l

thanks very much guys really appreciate all the feed back, i did like the feel of the rifle, i think i would need to put a new trigger in it as it isn't that crisp.....do they do a trigger kit for it? like for the cz 452...if you know what i mean? it felt like a really nice action, i liked the scope as my friend has Viper on his .22 and i have always liked it. i know of the guy that traded it in as he works for a local estate about 2 miles form my house so i am going to pop in and get an opinion from the original owner. jobs a gooden me thinks!

well its going to be for foxes and deer, the reason is i have just found a remingtion sps .243 with mtc viper scope 6-24x56 harris bipod PES moderator had less than 60 rounds through it for £695

ok so i ave passed my DSC and the time has come to buy a stalking rifle at last. i have put loads of previous posts up asking what to buy and what not to buy. I used a friends .243 the other night and had 2 dog foxes. it was lovely to shoot and i just cant decide whether to get a variation for a .243 instead of a .308 i want something that shoots flat'ish if i was to run a smaller bullet weight in the .308 would this help? argh i don't know what to do! please help.

ok boys and girls... i need to buy a deer / caliber rifle in the very near future, and what i want to know is who of you have bought second hand and if you have had any probs? what to look for in a second hand rifle? obviously it is best to buy new, but it would be usefull to have a few pointers so i dont get shafted.

got to homebase and buy to plastic coated garden canes, drill a hole near the top and put a nut and bolt through it cost about £5. i left the bolt long so that i have somewhere to rest my index finger which seems to make it that little bit more steady.

never cleaned my CZ 452 .22LR none of my mates clean theirs either!

anyone want rabbit in cornwall?
langouroux replied to langouroux's topic in Living Off The Land & Game Cooking
paradise park will take them off you. really? its in hayle right? will they give you any cash for them? -
camokid...... im not much of a foxer however i will say this. most people on here will have shot foxes with .17HMR and .22LR because if your out lamping and one steps in front of you then your not going to miss the opportunity of knocking over old charlie. HOWEVER most people also on here wouldn't go out intentionally for foxes with this caliber due to reasons already explained by the MAJORITY. loads of people shot foxes with the .17HMR there was even an article in sporting rifle recently about some clay pigeon champ shooting them with his .17HMR ( if my memory serves me right) b

hello mate and welcome. i got a shotgun from sportsman gun center in exeter... some guy had bought one, then his wife had bought him a really nice one for his birthday. so i ended up with a baikal 12G over and under with less than a box or so of cartridges fired for £150!!! it was basically brand new. it fits me fine...which is probably the main thing to worry about. if the gun doesn't fit right then it wont shoot right. have fun shoppping www.guntrader.co.uk

rather opinionated aren't we! firstly i live in Cornwall and there isn't any munty's down here....yet! .308 isnt over kill for roe i know of people that use them and there is very little meat damage at all. and as for the comment about compensating for bad shooting, .308 would be terrible choice due to bullet trajectory. There fore hindering the people that aren't good shots! secondly i also travel to south afroca and .308 is is the caliber of choise for a lot of PH's. so thanks, but no thanks for what shoddy advice you offer.
