  1. choice of caliber is totally personal...i dont like the .17hmr as it is very noisey and cost alot if your banging a lot of rounds through it and you have to clean it regularly. the .22lr is cheap as chips to run and you never clean the barrel. but i will say this if i was to buy another .22lr i would buy second hand, if i was to buy a .17hmr then i would buy new.
  2. i rang my mate and asked him the same question...he said " you have two choices mate, you either clean it every time, or not at all" seems to be the answer on here to!

  11. there is no right or wrong way to go about it! if you are polite and easy to talk to then the farmer will generaly tell you his pest / vermin woes and tales to chikens going missing etc, and then your in! i peronsally dress normally(no camo)and i have a folder with all my qualifications, FAC & SGC, and more importantly a copy of my BASC insurance...which is usually the deal maker! along with a few photos of stuff i have shot. if they still aint interested after that...they never will be. i find picking up ground quite easy but then cornwall is a pretty chilled place to live an
  12. loads of people say that a full moon is no good for lamping...so i put the theory to the test last night! couldn't get on to a fox as he was ignoring the call think he has been shot at before as he was very cautious. but i did see 3 roe! on a frosty full moon night! so roll on buck season! so on to my question......why dont people go when the moon is up? is it because of your shadow / outline is that much more visible?
  13. people say the wildcat is a good mod very short extension to the barrel and can be broken down to clean...i have actually ordered one...but im just not sure i want a front end heavy gun, the Tikka T3 lite is soooo lite with out it...and as above i could use that money somewhere else! like getting an alternator for my car! seeing as i broke down at 2am after lamping last night

I have just bougt a Hawke nite eye 6-24x50 on a reccomendation from someone on here who has one on his .243 but i have spent good money on leoupold mounts! you dont have to spend £500 that is total sh*te!i know a guy who has been shooting foxes and deer with a remington .243 for years with a £150 bushnell scope and never had to worry about zero! check all your mounts are tight and go back to basics before you commit to spending the cash!
