Lurchers - I have 2. Horses - another 2 - I enjoy just hacking about watching the wildlife and the countryside. <br />Any country stuff really and I like to see working dogs "working" I'm a member of The Border Field Sports Club and take the dogs to shows regularly in the season.
  1. I gave my dog a teaspoon of Potter's malt and codliver oil - that I got from Morrisons supermarket about £3 a bottle. (Same stuff us oldies got as kids) - works a treat. He's nearly 10 he has no creaks, he runs and jumps and catches as well as ever and I'm regularly complimented on his condition.
  2. Very bored at present so ....
  3. What a lucky little dog - and well done to you guys. She looks a lovely dog and I'm sure she'll do you proud.
  4. About half a mile down the road - not as close as you obviously. If that was in my garden my two would be through the window or bouncing up and down singing loudly....LOL
  5. Got back from Bedlington Show an hour ago - what disgusting weather - it snowed the whole time. Good turnout though. I only stayed about an hour as it was too cold for my granddaughter (except when she found the big muddy puddle to plodge in - then she forgot how cold she was!). The dogs were all soaked and miserable - so we went home, fed the horses got dried and had a great sunday dinner. Anybody else make it there?
  6. Anyone going to Bedlington on Sunday ? I probably saw a few of you guys at Murton who are from the north east? I took my pair to Murton and the fawn first cross saluki bitch did nowt (not enough muscle on her yet) but had loads of people interested in her including 3 who wanted to buy her - and got 2nd in Veterans with my 1st cross deerhound - so you may remember me. Anyway , it starts at 12 noon (reputedly) you know they never start on time! See you there?
  7. It starts at 12 (but theyre never on time) don't think theres a website . Its at Murton Welfare Ground - only went the once last year - hope I can remember the way 'cos i've got a car full.
  8. Have you got the address of the place - my daughters having trouble getting a regular big supply of chicken for her 4 dogs. Thanks Su
  9. Anyone else going to Murton, (Co. Durham) Lurcher Show on Easter Sunday? Its the first of the season up here and the chance to catch up with old mates and new dogs. Hope the weather improves as its perishing up here and not forecast for much better for the next few days. My granddaughter (30 months) wants to show the new lurcher - lets hope there's no stray rabbits about or i'll never see the pair of them again!!
  10. Not Newcastle - 10 miles north west - used to be a small mining village Killingworth - now the edge of the urban sprawl but still walking distance of 6 farms and bridleways.
  11. welcome , just south of you in hartlepool , is your deerhound from one of bills? ... Hi - no my dogs not one of Bills - i didnt know him when I bought the dog. He was bred by Mark Arnold from Brandon who has a Deerhound bitch - he was one of the big litter of 14 that was advertised in the Countrymans Weekly tho I didn't see it there. I met Bill when I joined the Lurcher Club in Northumberland.
  12. Hi Stuart - small world, huh? Yes you'll see Cally soon. Whens the first show up yours? I only really know the Hawick one in June or Selkirk at the end. If you think of anything within reasonable drive for me let me know please. I will need to send you my subs for 2008 as well. All the Best Su.
  13. Hi my name is Su and I live just north of Newcastle upon Tyne. I have an 8 year old Deerhound first cross Glenn who I've had since 3 months old and a Saluki Cross Cally who I got 'free to good home' last October. I used to work Glenn as a youngster and Cally was apparently a good courser before I got her. Now I'm getting on a bit I just wander about the countryside with them and do some dog shows (so I'm probably gonna get a load of crap from the workers!) but each to their own - we're against the ban not each other. Hi to Doxhope (are you stalking me Bill? - you keep popping up
