  5. not long back from a few hours out rabbiting. we started off on the reedbeds with minnie.ive seen this bitch a few times now but it was great to see her on her own hunting up and catching rabbits.i filmed her as we may oneday bring a dvd out.she caught a good number of rabbits. afterwards we had my young pointer cross vandal out for his first time in the reeds.he has been lamping, bushing and had a few rats but i didnt know what he would do in the reeds.i was pleased to see him hunting without getting too far away.he caught three and missed a few but i was buzzing when i saw him wind a rabbit

  8. cheers lads,i enjoyed todays mooch out after that i took the other lurcher and my pointer pup out for a quick bushing trip.those two should start to do abit soon.
  9. had a two hour walk out with the pointer crosses on the reedbeds.
  10. i started this month.having a quick look out day or night twice a week catching a dozen or so rabbits wont make much difference to the number of rabbits available later in the year.remember that in many places mixy will show up soon and kill off some rabbits.it wont wipe them out but i dont think catching rabbits now will affect my proper season in any way. it just means im out hunting, which is the only reason i have a kennel of dogs in the first place.
  11. good going woodga i mess about with an air-rifle but will probably never have a night like that.

    L200

i own two l200s,an 02 animal and a 05 warrior.i like them but they are really thirsy and are crap off-road.the turning circle is rubbish aswell. i used to have a discovery, now they really are a good tool but lack the room that the double crew cabs have in the back.ive heard l200 owners claim they have good 4x4s.they dont l200s struggle to get up some steep fells and i wouldnt even try to tackle places we used to take the landrovers up. still as a "greenlaning" sort of 4x4 with loads of room for dogs and hunting gear the l200 and other pick-ups take some beating. if i flog mine the
  13. just because i would hunt rats and rabbits in the summer dosent mean i dont go out more in the winter.i dont go along with the idea that all summer dog work is easy,i dont lamp in summer but with the hay and crop fields at waist height we catch less rabbits on a mooch out than what we do in winter. as for giving things a sporting chance thats not a clear cut argument.ill catch rabbits in winter using nets that have no chance at all.lets face it a few might slip the net or bolt from an unseen hole but the majority of rabbits in a set will be caught.they have no chance but we still enjoy it don
  14. go on the website of one of the countrysport book sellers.write down all the tiles you think you may want to read and hand the list to your local library.libraries are the best way to get to read books as they charge about 30p a book to get you it.if they can they will buy a book for you if its not in stock in the area.otherwise buying all the books would cost a fortune. any that they cant get for you,you can buy.
  15. i use a clulite lazerlite and have recently fitted a dimmer switch as sometimes its just too powerfull.i dont think its the best lamp for guns but i use it with the dogs and i didnt want to have to buy more kit.it wasnt about the expense as all lamps are cheap enough but im starting to accumilate alot of gear due to doing several types of hunting with dogs and gun.
  16. rabbits are a very serious pest in parts of britain.if they werent controlled all year round they would be an even bigger problem.there wouldnt be any grass left for sheep.ive been shooting a few this week where whole hay fields have been stripped. anyway given a choice theres no-way i would stop rabbiting in february and start again in september.it would be too long without working the dogs.i dont lamp dogs in the breeding season due to lambs and gamebirds but i would if i could.my dogs kill rabbits out bushing all year long, not large amounts but if you kill one or a hundred pregnant does i
  17. ive done a tandem jump over hawaiis north shore.i figured if i was going to do something a bit dangerous i might aswell enjoy one of the best views the world has to other on the way down. everybody should do it,its brilliant.
  18. i wouldnt want an undocked terrier but ive done my share of bushing and ratting with terriers and lurchers and dont see an undocked dog injuring its tail.do bedlingtons get injured tails all the time????? as for ratting in tight places,a dogs tail is in no more danger than any other part of its body. i could be wrong and as ive said i wouldnt want an undocked terrier.
