  1. Thanks for all the advice, much appreciated! I am really not that fussed about shooting target comp anyway, but would love having the option to shoot at a range if I wanted to, so will concentrate on getting that land permission sorted. Anyone in the Aberdeen area that has a rabbit/fox problem???...... I had to try....
  2. Thanks for that! If I have to choose between the two, then vermin control it is, but being new to the area I only have 1 possible contact with which to start, but my trigger finger is itching, and target shooting is always fun!
  3. Hi all! I am trying to get my land shooting rights sorted out, but wouldn't mind doing some target shooting at my local club as well, seeing as one of the guns will definately be a .22 rimfire. My question is, if I get granted land permission and apply for a FAC with that, can I use my .22 at the target range? And more importantly, if I don't get shooting rights sorted right now and eventually get my FAC via the target shooting, can I use the rifle for vermin control (with a letter of permission obviously)? Thanks for any help!
  4. Hehehe... I got used to it....kind of. Even trying to teach myself some Doric to fit in. Thanks for all the welcomes!
  5. As luck would have it I spoke to a friend of a friend this morning and he said he will assist me in obtaining land permission and also take me on an outing or two next week to see what the local fauna is like! Now I just need to start looking at what guns I want when I get that FAC! Don't think it will be worth the money and effort bringing my .270 and .22 over from SA, plus the .270 is not the most suited for what is on offer here.
  6. Hi everyone, Glad to have found this forum! Having been a keen hunter back in SA I am desperate to get back into it over here seeing as I am now permanently relocated to Scotland. Does anyone know if it is possible for a non-UK citizen (but resident) to obtain a FAC? I am aware of the general requirements ie land permission etc. And also, does anyone know of a place to maybe start shooting rabbits or foxes (always good exercise!) up here in the Aberdeenshire area?
