    HI Rob,a lot of questions here but I will try to answer some of them.A ESS and a patterdale are two totaly different dogs,if you need a retriever then dont have a terrier but terriers can be fantastic flush dogs,I go on a shoot that uses terriers and I love watching them flush. Its good that you take exercising your dog seriously,I take mine for a short walk in the morning and a good hour late afternoon (i've got a border) and a big walk at the weekends I use burns dried food for convenience but i thaw out some raw chicken wings once a week and a tin of sardines every week,but raw food and b

    I,ve used amoxicillin as well when the dog has got a few nasty cuts.I opened a 500 mg capsule and cut the powder in two and gave some in the morning with food and the rest at night with food.Works.

    One of my mates had a staffy that chewed on a hedgehog,the spines got into the dogs gut and eventually had to be put down!

    Hi billy,cant help you with the ferreting,but I know a man from Stourbridge that goes with dogs,he might take you.Have you got any interest in working terriers?I'm from Stourbridge and never worked my terrier and dont know much about it.Gaz

    Someone told me if a dog food has beet pulp in it,dont buy it,its just a waste product from sugar beet factories and has no nutritional benifit for the dog it just bulks it out,it just means more dog shit.I have tried to explain to lots of pepole that it is cheaper to feed dogs on premium food such as Burns at 35 quid than the horrible cheap food at 12.99 (15kg).My terrier needs 280g of the cheap stuff a day and 100g of Burns(both manufacturers reccomended daily feeding amounts),Burns has real meat in it no beet pulp and is hypoalergenic.Dogs thrive on it.

    carriers are the best thing ever, use them for all our dogs, dogs love them too, they are indeed their personal dens for their stuff, bones toys etc and have made our lives really easy. Agree with Ditch Shitter on getting pups used to them and never forcing. carriers are dead handy for any size of dog at any age. On that point any tips on where to pick up good value on them online etc., some of mine are bit ancient. I agree cages are the way to go but I never go back to the cage when locked for the night when a pup,no matter how much whining,a blanket over the top makes it more cosy for

    Very true, but there's only so many mile you can cover in a day .... Does anybody else know any more about working borders? It looks as though working borders were pretty common in the ''s and '90's after looking through various older books and magazines ... Have they faded that much in that short time? ..... Out on a wander with black one! I found a working border by ringing advertising breeders and just asking if the parents worked (some put the phone down) but got a cracker,quite a big dog at 15" and 9.5 kilo and carries no fat.I have yet to see him turn away from any
