If he was running as keen as the day I saw him, he would have been going hard. Some injuries are gunna happen with keen fast dogs in our scrub, they are not nice manicured fields. Hope he is back in action for you soon, cheers mate

I was lucky enough to have the priveledge of seeing this grand old girl in action, she,s the real deal, a special dog, cheers

I,d like to be holding the money when you told her that!!!

Mate, after 2 divorces I have learn,t several things. 1 Women are like buses, there will be another one along shortly. 2 My mate Bob(Dylan) once said "If you aint got nuthin, you aint got nuthin to lose" and yes, I did it again, but this time I got a mad bitch who will feed the dogs and ferts before me and the kids, I will not always be happy, but I,ll never be bored, cheers the current misses "fueling up" fat pups INSIDE BY THE FIRE, where they should be

I have heard they are first class working stock. I believe they share blood wih the well respected Kilkenny whips of Mr Sherry who needs no introduction. High quality Nimrodal blood features in some lines, and only proven workers are bred from, cheers

I often give my ferts a drink beween warrens when working them. All mine drink from bowls in the field, even though they have bottles in their court. I think the weird ferret would learn to drink from a bowl if it was with a bowl drinker after some work, cheers

I ferret 60 plus holers by myself week in week out! Its the 250 hole bstds that make you stop and think!1 cheers
-
The poisonous snakes don,t normally hunt rabbit, rats are about their biggest common target. You don,t get that many IN the warrens, especially active warrens. Haysheds are a diff story, snakes love em.Your ferret would be lucky to survive an underground encounter, especially with a brown, but I don,t know anyone who has lost one, cheers

About a dozen, never took a pic of the lot cause a storm hit, but this was a funny one. It had been battling the ferts and crawled out an unnetted hole and just sat there??
-
Strangely enough, not many ramblers where you get "visitors", I think I,m in front!
-
Took the ferts out for some bunny interaction today, parked on this nice warren. was getting a feed team talk had a great day, even had a visitor cheers

We are pretty thick down here, but strangely enough I had worked out they were greys!!! For hunting, I prefer early speed, and that dog had stamina as well, not a long way third. In racing the dogs running on give an "illusion" of speed, its actually the leaders slowing. The dog that led that race would have reached a higher speed kph than the winner did, cheers
-
What was the dog that led in the first vid, thats the sort would suit me, pure early speed!! cheers
-
I would tell you limes about the speedo cable trick but we might have to use it in a TEST MATCH!!!, cheers

I think the blue one spans http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i38X8GA0wAY cheers

They are "supposed" to run all day. Only a handfull here in Oz, so not many in working hands. Inbred dogs are often good on the cross, cheers

There is some good amongst em. I wouldn,t mind trying a whip cross. Heres a couple of ibizans on the course. Only problem is finding REALLY strong chairs for the girls!!

Cheers, a nice pic yourself. You have given me an idea, I might try wrapping up a new spade for her birthday.

Its not everyman who is lucky enough to have his daughter take to sharing his hobby. Blessed as I am, my nine year old is an intergral part of my crew. She is particulaly fond of my/our new season pole hob "Monster" who is showing signs of being a good worker with a nice disposition to boot. So when she spied a local advert for "ferrets for sale" I was obliged to investigate. I was much put off on arrival at the vendors when he proceeded to don his WELDING GLOVES as we walked towards his cages!!! "these haven,t had much handling" he said. Well the whole thing wa

What dog to get? To do the job!
Glen Loth replied to olliedakennard's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Breeds and crosses go in and out of fashion. There are good and bad in all breeds and crosses. Once you have decided on a type that pleases your eye the most important thing is to get a dog with proven working blood, or even better, a pup from a proven mating. There are plenty of good looking dogs that are not worth feeding. You will seldom go wrong with any of the common lurchers if they have true working backgrounds, cheers -
Wow!! Wonderful pics and marvelous animals, thanks for sharing, cheers
