As previously stated. Have you checked the rib cages to see if they have been smashed? As for a proven remedy. I have heard of people wrapping the dummies in holly. If the dog bit down too hard it got pricked. I have never seen it done but the general concensus was that it may stop a dog from picking up full stop. We had a labrador on our shoot. He is used alot for fowling and that smashed pheasants and partridges up all the time. It got so bad that the guy was asked not to bring it anymore.

Legally it is fine to shoot foxes with either the .22lr or the 17hmr although morally some people are against it. I personally have shot alot of foxes with both calbres over the years and it is all down to distance and ability. Out to 50 yds with the 22 and 75yds with the 17. My mate has shot them at longer distances with his hmr but he is alot better shot than me. If we see one and we dont have one of the bigger rifles with us (which is very rare) it gets left for another night. As for deer..... Muntjac and CWD (and roe in scotland) can only be shot with a minimumin .220 with a bullet wei

My thoughts exactly. If the dog has a small mouth it could be mouthing it to get it into position.

There is no official national pigeon day anymore. BASC who used to arrange it stopped doing it a few years back.

I chuck all of mine in the hedges, but away from public footpaths. The reason for this is when they are covered in maggots they feed the pheasants and partridges.

Its all goes back to what i have said before about installing the basics in the dog to start with before moving on to hunting and flushing or even retrieving. Although you pup is still young and not allowing him time to be a pup would be wrong. being a bit stricter with it now will pay dividends in the future. When he runs off like that, recall him and get him to sit up and wait until you send him off. If he wont sit put him back on the lead and walk on a little further and then repeat the exercise. Hopefully after a short time he will get the message.

And what was the point in your post? People have different opinions and portray them in different ways. Whether we agree or disagree with them is neither here nor there. What gets my back up is when idiots like you post remarks like that.

The first thing you have to do is take him away from temptation and back to basics. I would suggest that you take him to a place that is just tarmac or concrete and get him walking to heel, sitting on the lead etc. From there try keeping to heel off the lead and walking him so he stays close. If he wanders give him a short blast on the whistle and let him know you want him to heel. From there get him sitting up somewhere where he cannot get away ie. An alley way. Get him sat up and if he moves give him a single blast of the whistle and sit him back up...eventually he will get the idea. One of t

He looks a cracking little dog... Very alert.

My personal preference is for springers but i love watching the cockers work. Its like watching a bumble bee on speed the way they fly about, in and out of bushes. I prefer the springers just because they are bigger and stronger. They will retrieve a goose or a woodcock. They will hunt the deepest, heaviest cover or stand by your peg.

Had to dig to a couple of weeks ago and found the ferret curled up in a nest with week old+ kits..... Working it back it meant they were conceived during the snow and cold.

New Shed with a concrete run that you can walk about in. That would be mu suggestion.

As previously stated ...Keep him away from game at this age. He is too young and needs to be obedient and steady before you even try him on game.

That is your first mistake...... You should be starting your training with the pup now. You should start the basics like trying to get it to sit before feeding, getting it used to its name and general bonding. You can use play time as a training session. Nothing to intense at this age but something like letting it carry a sock around and then caliing it back. The thing with any training is if you get the basics installed in the dog early on then it will make your life easier as they get older. Yes you will have set backs but that is part of the fun. The part where people fall when training is

What are you feeding him? Does he have anywhere high he can fall from?
-
Just a quickie gents.... There is a guy selling 5 mk3 ferret collars..... 4 days remaining and at the moment £100 (which was my limit. So im out).
-
What have you been feeding them fella? That is a classic sign of botulism. With remarks like that i doubt whether you will stay on here for long !! What brain cell woke up to make a comment like that?
-
Do you have any pics and a location please fella?
-
Sorry to read about your loss fella. She looked a very pretty dog...... You will have a lot of fun with your springer and she will give you lots of good memories too.... All the best for the future.

To be perfectly honest with you I would save your money and then start looking.£400-£600 for a decently bred springer. FFS.....so your saying you cant get a decent dog for less than 400 notes........ My advice mate would be to get around some local shoots and see if any litters will be coming up. You'll get to see the bitch work and not a silly piece of paper for money making purposes.....atb No Lab that is not what I said... I said £400-£600 for a decently bred dog.. I know this wont guarantee a decent dog but it should help with decent breeding.

Looks good Aaron Are they thermolite blocks? If they are you might want to seal them with something to stop the urine soaking into them.

It sounds like the bite is infected and your dog may need a course of antibiotics..... I think a trip to the vets is the best bet though.

What is the point of your post??? So what if someone cannot spell. Are you saying because you cannot spell you are a bad person or less intelligent than someone who can? Maybe this forum should only be open to people who are educated to PHD standard..... I will remind you that this is a hunting forum and not an English language forum.
