  1. Just to throw another set of conditions into the pot - how's this from my 22lr FAC issued by Kent Police: 'the shooting of vermin or, in connection with management of any estate, other wildlife'. Now just what does that mean? Oh yes, zeroing is listed as well.
  2. Here's my set up: it's a 1956 BRNO (the CZ forerunner) with Hawke 5-20 X 50AO and SAK mod. It still shoots beautifully - as these two found out today. I don't know the make of moderator it had on it when I bought it, but the SAK is sooo much quieter.
  3. I'd like to go and meet up with Alexander the Great, and tell him to lay of the booze!
  4. Thanks for the compliments on the choice of rifle chaps - it's a 1956 model 2. I did a fair bit of research before looking for one, and yes it's accurate - 5 shots into a hole smaller than a 1p piece at 50 metres (not every time, but I have done it!). I need to do some testing with the high velocity rounds, but I'll look into the Winchesters too - thanks for the advice.
  5. Ian, I agree with you about a centre-fire for dedicated fox shooting, but the reason for my original question was that I only have the one rifle, and when I check the pens on our shoot I have it with me to take the squirrels & bunnies, just occasionally (and I mean only once or twice a season) a fox might present itself. So it was really for those odd opportunities, but thanks for all the answers.
  6. Thanks chaps, sensible answers. I was anticpating it being 70 -75yds, and it's useful to know if Charlie shows his face when I'm doing the rounds of the shoot. Virtual pints to you.
  7. Hi All, assuming a safe, clean-kill shot is presented by a fox - what is a sensible maximum range using the CCI Velocitors in my .22rf (BRNO model2)?
  8. The powers that be on our shoot have decided to get the poults in at the end of June this year, two weeks earlier than last season. Maybe we were lucky with the weather as we lost very few and they were much better birds. Interesting to see what happens. Last year they specifically asked for English pheasants - I never knew they come with blue backs too!
