I would agree with most of the posts here. The NEF is not worth the aggrivation. Sell it and get a better rifle. CZ, Winchester, Remmington, Sako. You can get an aftermarket trigger from someone like Timmney that are very easy to adjust the trigger pull on. Could adjust it down to about 1-1/2 lbs so it will go off if it feels your pulse beat. Cheers

I have a Ruger rifle in 300 Win Mag. It is a fine shooting piece of equipment. The Ruger will function well for you in whatever conditions you are able to hunt. The .243 is a great cartridge but don't plan on putting those hares in the pot afterwards. I had a .22 Hornet some years ago and found it to be fine for squirrels and hares. Would work well on fox at shorter distances but the .17 HMR would work as well and the ammunition would be less expensive to shoot.

good photos Chester. Looks like you and the hounds had a good walk.

Can one of you good people let me know what the time zone difference is between the UK and the US Eastern Standard Time? I needed to call someone but did not want to make that call at 2:00 am.

If it is kennel cough, they would be coughing all the time. I would agree with Millet as my hounds will cough after a hard run at the beginning of the season but as they get legged up and fit the cough will not occur. Mike

a nice looking pair! Looks like they are both handy to have around! Thanks for sharing the photos.

Here is a photo of my male Strike at 8 weeks.

Nice looking pup. Did I miss how old the pup is? Looks to be maybe 16 weeks or so... This pup looks like my litter of Staghound pups. Here in the States we have been breeding Staghound to Staghound for a good number of years. Add a bit of Saluki, Bull, Borzoi, Greyhound or Deerhound once in awhile. My pups are all brindle colour like this one. Some with white feet. Your pup sure looks to have the makings of a good running dog. Should run them foxes down and bring you a good number of rabbits for the pot. Good luck with them Mike Sorry lads, this was the wrong photo.

when a good hunting companion goes down it is a loss felt all over the world. Sam will be joining hundreds of good hunt terriers that have served their masters well over the years. May you have years of fond memories of him Mike

Damn sorry to hear about that Gash. This is a tough sport we do and when things like this happen it is a shocking reminder that things can and sometimes do go very wrong. It is always a shame to loose a good terrier or hound. I am sorry for your loss Mike

Can anyone recomment a place to get a good quality sewn leather coupling? A friend told me that Bellman and Flint sells this but I can not seem to find their website. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers

this all seems hotly contested as a topic goes. No one here is saying that you don't have the right to like a certain breed of terrier, but lets face it, Plummer tried to reinvent the wheel when it already existed and there was no need for the terrier in the first place. He was just looking to try to make something different that people would spend their money on. I have no doubt there is a Plummer type of terrier someplace that would work as it has enough Russell or Fell blood in it but I have never seen or even heard of one that can be documented. It is like a discussion I had here in t

Don't sugar coat this Chief... how do you really feel about them? All good though. Each to their own. I have to admit though, I have never seen a photo anyplace of a Plummer Terrier working anything more than a rat.

I have had one of my Staghounds come on with a hard raspy/hacking sort of cough last season after a very long course on a good fast hare. It lasted about 2 days and I never did figure out what was going on with her. She goes for a good long run daily and at first I thought she was not quite fit enough. Maybe it is the dry climate here in the central US.

a good dig for sure! Here in Colorado, we were on badgers 5 different times this past season with a combination of Russells and Fells. They always managed to give us the slip. Hats off to anyone that manages to get caught up to one here in the states. Mike

Have a few photos but not sure how to load them here. Will look into it and see about getting them on the board today.

guess it depends on the ground you are going to be hunting on mostly. Seems most of the running dogs talked about on here are game enough if you believe all that you read. My hounds are Staghounds or some people refer to them as American Coyote Hounds. They are bred from generations of Staghounds that can be traced back some 40 or 50 years. They are mostly greyhound with some deerhound added and a touch of bulldog. The greys/whippit/beddys seem to do a good job for most people in the UK. I know a gent that has a greyhound/Kerry blue cross that he speaks very highly of. Guess it is a mat

Think Craigs advice is good. Would be a good time to get some obedience work done with her and start taking her for some walks in the country to get her used to some different conditions and terrain. The recall will certainly be handy when she manages to get a good distance away.

Greg's pack is great. I have only had the opportunity to see photos when he has been here visiting. Richard has quite a nice pack of Beagles too. He is coming over to this side of the pond to judge a terrier trial for us in August. It is always good to visit with he and Sara.

really terrific photos! Thanks for sharing them

My little terrier is doing fine. Hope your girl is doing well and has lost her taste for chocolate eggs.

have had a couple of my terriers get their way into the chocolate bowl on occasion. Things to consider... size of the dog and the type of chocolate. Milk chocolate will make them feel a bit poorly, but won't kill them. It's the dark chocolate that can be real bad. My vet recommended that I give them a large syringe full of hydrodgen pyroxide down the hatch. They'll not keep anything down with that. A lurcher size dog will take an extra syringe full more than a terrier. I've got an especially sneaky little bitch terrier that was nursing a new litter of pups. The vet said chocol

Sorry to hear about your girl there [bANNED TEXT]. No matter what side of the pond you are on, the loss of a truly good hound tears at a houndsman's heart. She looks and sounds like my girl and I think that is why her story pulled a tear from my eye as well. All the best to you. Time will help and her memory will stay with you and those who knew her the rest of you life.

Hi Bob, Sounds like you had a good time with the field coursing group down there. Jack numbers are up this year in Wyoming and have a few trips planned for the Shirley Basin area with the stop at the old Virginian Hotel to run these Stags I have. Enjoyed reading your commentary on the greyhound bashing these other people seem to get into. Our mutual friend Herb has had a number of excellent hounds from the track. One little bitch in particular he told me about was fairly small. About 55 lbs. Could run like the wind and not hurt herself. Would grab the coyote by the top of the skull an
