Another thing worth mentioning; 50 yards of netting in the right spot is better than a 1000 yards in the wrong spot. Last season I netted hares for a film crew, and having never set eyes on the land before I knew I'd had my work cut out. Pressure was on. However, a quick spin around with the keeper soon saw places that were natural bottlenecks for the hares, where three fields met and a farm track crossed into more land. This proved to be the sweet spot, and it was well covered with 150 yards. Thankfully we had a team of beaters too, as without them you'll struggle to get any sense of ur

13 but 3 died..... I don't have any pics...yet.

Just feed her plenty of raw meat mate and some good biscuit, you don't have to get too anal about food, just get plenty into her and she'll be fine.

Shame about the C section...my mates bitch just had to have a C section with Romeo pups too.

If the mesh is 4Z some hares will rip straight through it. You can catch the odd hare working solo, but thats all it will be. The net needs to be set where the hares naturally run to get any success doing it without a team of beaters IMO.

Aye, it looks like a CB. the trouble with those moths is that they're unusual in so much as they really vary in patterns....

IMO you want to try and film from where the rabbits sanctuary is where possible. This will ensure close-range action for the camera and alot more clarity as the light will be much brighter on subject.

Not been in long. Ran three , missed three... Difficult rabbits to be fair to the dog, but they all add to fitness.....better luck tomorrow. A friend of mine asked me how many times I go lamping in a season and I couldn't tell him, so this season I might keep a tally and see, it might be interesting actually how few outings I actually do.... Good Hunting Folks. JD

Mooch And Lamp With Littermates New Video
J Darcy replied to FERRETBOY's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Great little video...just what the pups need...good luck with them. -
Cool and windy here. Only trying to get three or four runs and then head for home. Just building fitness up for us both, slowly but surely. :victory:

I don't often post up much about what little hunting I do, but here's a piccy from last night. Lucky bloody rabbit! Normally on this field the bunnys try to get through the lower two meshes, where it's much tighter. generally this results in them coming home with me. however this one never tried that and instead he vaulted seven meshes up, popped straight through and away to safety. Fair play to it, he's going to be hard to catch next time! The winds swaying the big trees outside my back door, the lamps all charged and I'm just waiting for darkness before we walk the fields once more.....hap

Aye, thats the way to do it. i still got some lightforce lamps from about 15 years ago, and they're going strong, but only after a bit of messing about with the wires. Which, truthfully, you shouldn't have to do to a lamp. It should work straight out of the box. This is the set-up I use these days for lamping. It's kind of evolved over the last decade into this, it's a real chew humping it about but it's the only way to get the photos I want. Luckily for me my dog doesn't need a lead.... Good set up that Jd did you make it yourself,I bet it took some getting used to. It's taken me

Make a bracket like mine. Switch on left thumb for lamp, on right thumb for camera...if it's mounted on a bar you don't have to worry about composure, just concentrate on keeping the bunny centred in the spot and you'll get the subject.

I've not used a camcorder for a good while matey, so I don't have any pics of that. I like to concentrate on still images as that medium is more useful to me and much harder to achieve IMO. Camcorders are not too difficult .

It's amazing, but after all these years there still isn't a decent lamp on the market....... One of the best I ever owned came from america way back in the early 90's. I can't remember it's exact name but it was something like a 'squeaker' or something similar. that lamp had a great cable and also a rubber coating so it never made any noise.I can't remember what happened to it, sadly.

terrierwork is LEGAL in the U.K. ? so no insurance should be void if you are digging a fox in the UK and you have written permission from landowner or agent to authorize that work? It is not legal to dig to a fox. In England, Scotland or Wales.

you'd make a good politician always turning it away from labour and spinning it about the conservatives . Yes yes they'll snides we all know that but labour are the biggest quislings of the lot mate ! I hate the conservatives mate, always have, wouldn't piss on one if they were on fire...........with good reason..........they get a bit of support on here because of hunting/immigration.............but it's all bollocks..........if the rich/elite didn't want cheap labour, and f**k knows what else it's about?....we wouldn't have mass immigration...........they all want mass immigration.....

Well do something about it instead of moaning.....start you're own campaign and see how easy it is..... As long as the CA supports us in parliament who cares that they don't fill their magazine with terriers or lurchers? It is down to the CA that we can still legally hunt what we can hunt, but I don't hear anyone saying 'Thanks' to them for that? There's lots going on behind the scenes. I think Barrie summed it all up nicely..... We started when we were lobbying parliament and the Mps and the SNP played the Ace of spades and if I recall the same crap Devided we f
