  1. Hi Nobby...what breeding is the dog on the RHS of the pic if you dont mind me asking...
  2. great pics Vim...are you getting eddies revenge??..lol...
  3. Hi hedgesteeper, i dont class myself as a deer expert, but scooby has bagged over 20 CWD and i have yet to see any acting aggressively....they do not want to attack a dog....ever.... however, muntys can sometimes geta little frisky, my dog has been spiked twice this year, once badley and the other just a skin tear.....i think you must try and start your lurcher on any deer really..as long as the dog is big enough and mature enough, but, i would leave the fallow and sika alone until they have knocked over a few roe as i beleive taking big deer with your dog will cause it to alter its style on
  4. I have read in todays Shooting times that the CWD is to have a closed season...i think march31st _ october31st was what they said...and not before time either...but , to be perfectly honest, i feel that the close season should start on 1st march and run to 30th september.....good hunting...JD
  5. A very good post there Tom...without the terrier and lurcher folk the CA would fold...
  6. Where can i get peroxide from??..and no, its not for my hair, but for bleeching deer skulls....the best i can find at the chemists is 9%.....too weak....cheers
  7. Feck me,.no offence,..but that's one skeletal and emaciated hand.... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> LOL...by the tail end of the season my body is a wreak....and it wasnt too great to start off with!!! lol....im getting old i guess...
  8. this is a bit better piccy taken once the light levels had picked up a little....early morning photography is pretty poor to say the least...as you can see, its no monster , but a nice specimen never-the-less..good hunting guys...JD
  9. just as dawn was breaking i had a steady walk around my permission on some peaty land...scoob managed to bump into 2 munty bucks with this being the biggest: i measured it quickly at i feel it is a borderline bronze....

  13. this is my mates dog: plough...a dog certain to be a speed merchant....id like to see the animal that could out run this little ball of energy when it matures...
  14. we have high hopes for these ....they have been specifically bred for our own purposes and hopefully will make the grade......we will just have to see....
  15. Hi, i always lamp from my quarrys escape route no matter what quarry that is.... we obviously do take wind into consideration, but sometimes you have no option but to have the wind behind you...on a true windy night we have walked right up to squatters in the beam and they could definately smell us, so perhaps in strong winds your scent isnt that important?...maybe...great topic by the way.....JD
  16. Sash...be careful taking those black birds home...
  17. Great Pics...it makes our quarry look tame by comparison
  18. i am struggling to train my own!!!!! LOL....but seriously, if you want any advice or help you are more than willing to ask....good hunting...JD
  19. Hi BB, now its none of my business really, and, in fact, i wouldnt blame you for telling me to keep my big bloody nose out of it, BUT, i find the way to a perfect recall is to use the dogs stomach.....if it doesnt come back IMMEDIATLY on the first recall it doesnt get any food...they usually learn sooner rather than later....but thats JMHO....JD
  20. Hi braken boy..you say you dont beleive sal/greys can be trained to a decent standard...what is it you dont beleive?...sit, stay, retreive, blind stay, lay, heal, hand signals???...it is possible with the right salX.....the nervy ones are the hard ones...IMHO......look forward to your reply...JD
  21. Great pics guys. I have one question?...why do you leave the lungs and heart in when you gut them?....lets have some more pig hunting piccys...
