  1. surely that would be discussed at the meeting with the CA, somebody has to speak to them on our behalf and if its a club/association then it can voice the opinions of its members then to me thats a move forward, bickering is part of the dog world and is one of the reasons we do not get fully represented, a problem of our own making Well, I got sick of waiting and going around in circles so i have had a go myself. I'm sure the mag will feature a dash of lurcherwork in the future. Everyone from the CA I spoke to was all for lurchers. Can't say fairer than that. Good shows that things

  3. The CA will welcome you and your money like Arkwrights till, if it happens mate, sorry but I dont share your enthusiasm of Lurcher owners flocking to the CA, they will represent us but half hearted to swell the coffers, thats why all others retain their individual identity, Terriers, MFA, Coursing Club , self representation and a voice, as individual members you wont have that apart from being a member. I think you missed the point I was making, or I didn't make it well enough. Yes, a lurcher 'club' is a good idea but they must pay subs and these subs must go to the CA in order for them
  4. The funny thing is; I went down to The Midland and discussed lurcher representation with the CA directly. I am doing them articles and pics for their site and their mag. They are in full support of legal lurcherwork. We are all under the same banner. I have supplied them with a code of conduct. IMO nothing more really needs to be done apart from joining up more members to the CA. IMo if no one will fork out the cash to join CA then maybe a discounted rate for a 'region' could be applied, say a tenner a year per member for that region and then that region pays subs to the CA. I have not discu
  5. I still think C/A Could have, should have and should do a lot more for lurcher lads than is visible dont you ? Well, no. I disagree. And I do not think a 'spokesperson' for this club should be voicing those opinions anyway. Not if you want to be taken seriously by the overall fieldsports body. But thats my opinion.... I honestly think that whoever gets involved should be level headed and not prone to throwing their toys out of the pram and calling people c###s just because they don't like what they hear.
  6. Desertbred, does this mean that you take back all your earlier negativity about the CA and now reaslise that we are stronger if we fight with unity and all stick together?
  7. Those black foxes are now common as pets. There's people importing foxes and breeding them and all crazy colours are to be found. It is inevitable that some will be 'liberated' once the novelty wears off and their owner wants a tea-cup yorkie instead.........beautiful animal, I'd love to see it.....
  8. Aye, thats how I started off!! Taped to a brush handle. Caught me a bit of tackle that old kit did....
  9. Well.....I think that they are trying to pass another trap on us, but the trtap they are trying to force into us is totally flawed by it's trigger. I will take some pics and post them soon. Increasingly I think there's a bit of an 'old boys network' with the defra/trap importers. Al it all comes down to money! I'm sure it will all come out in the long run. I was at the GWCT stall at the gamefair and was asking a few questions. I asked why the DOC trap had a baffle system when there are no kiwis in the UK? I also asked why it is passed for rabbits when a rabbit cannot fit through the le
  10. If you're going local for a dozen or two runs have a look at the Clu-lite......it's superb!
  11. I thought you couldn't cross pet rabbits and wild rabbits??? Or doe you just mean tame wild rabbits?I think you can buddy......we've done it before, many, many years ago. My uncle used to call them 'net busters' due to their size Don't know I thought I read it in a Plummer book that pet rabbits were a type of hare, a farmer was actually telling me yesterday his brother had released pet rabbits and now there's black and white and orange rabbits up there. I thought he was telling porkies. We'll have to ferret the net busters so. ?? No buddy, the rabbits can interbreed, but eh hare and the rab

  13. I fancy a cricket, the wooden stocks look nice.
  14. You didn't have anything to do with them disapearing to did ya JD ? Well, funny you should say that...... in all honesty I never caught one. Where I put them they'd go out onto a football pitch to feed on a night and you know what footy pitches are like. I think one night I ran six or seven rabbits, but never made a catch. I was working at ASDA at the time stacking shelves on what was known as the 'twilight' shift. Being 5-11pm. So when the season was here and I wasn't too knackered I'd get home for about 11.20 and head out with the dog. I'd planned to have my first ever bash at these ra
  15. Sod buying them at those fancy prices, just make your own. The yanks have been making those for decades, we're years behind them. Most of the 'innovations' you see over here have been borrowed from the states, they're streets ahead of us.....they really are.
  16. Looks very much like a 116 to me.....
  17. I did it many years ago. The rabbits bred and lasted a few years, but they all died out in the end. My cousin dropped some off a couple of years back on another patch of land and they are going strong still. I fancy having a go next spring with a few cages of tame does and a couple of wild bucks to service them.
  18. My Sparky didn't get a run until he was about 16 months old. There's some dogs that have had three owners by that age...... :icon_eek:
  19. There's more young dogs/pup ruined through mental inury than physical...
  20. JD do you use the standard trigger wire formatlion on your 55's? Also, in your opinion, do you think they'd make a good mink trap, if they were approved for them? Well, I've got every make of BG here. The whole lot, and I have to say that the BMI triggers are the best of the lot. I've done a bit of experimenting with them and they're good. However, I once filmed a squirrel weave his way through the triggers to get to the peanuts. But if it can do that on a BMI then it can do it on anything else. I think the 55 would make a superb mink trap, simply because of the way they have lethal stri

  22. I think my mate painted that. It's been copied to death now if it's the same one....
  23. A simple hawthorn will catch many fish throughout the season. I tie mine with a white wing to aid visibility in the shadows,.
