  1. Maybe not, but I can see the end of legal use of the fenn I can, at least the Mk4
  2. And another thing, if theres so many stoats alive after 5 minutes in a MK6 then that tells me that the trap is not set properly. But thats JMHO. The people making the rules are clueless. IMO it is a backdoor route to abolishing trapping. How can you trap weasel and squirrel but avoid stoat? It will all come out in the wash.
  3. The most common trap for taking stoats (weasels) in the USA is the Victor rat trap. But can you really see that being legal in the UK? I can't.
  4. I always reckon that you make the rest of your life when in your thirties. So go for it!
  5. Take a little squeezy bottle of talc with you and squirt it in the air to see which way the wind is blowing. I get close to deer using that method alot. He is a proper big stag, I should imagine there'll be a few stalkers after his headgear if they could get him.....
  6. Go for it matey....it's easy, honest. Something for you to look back on.
  7. You plant a tree and photograph it....
  8. You won't have to worry about these pups. They will be flying machines.
  9. Just use a canon camera mate. it's little do do with the camera though.... I have lamped and videoed in the past. It's pretty easy really, especially so if you are familiar with the land. I remember back in the mid ninties when camcorders were heavier than a breezeblock, I made a bit of a lamping film but i later deleted it. I did loads of filming in those days. the camcorder was £660 in the sale! it took cassettes and the spare batterys were about £40 each! Crazy prices.Filming lamping is not hard to be honest. In fact, it's a piece of pi$$
  10. Fantastic pics Kay, especially so with him being a wild red. Most of the rutting pics are of park deer. So well done. he's an amazing beast for sure!
  11. I've not been back long myself. Loads of fog patches and it was a bad night. But I managed, somehow to get 5/5, so I was happy. Things went well tonight and I took 41 photos. So I'm happy. :victory: A poor nights lamping beats a good night sat in front of the computer......

    Permission

OK, It seems I have gotten confused. It is just terrierwork that needs written permission to be carried at all times. I shall amend my earlier post.

    Permission

    Unless I've got it wrong.

    Permission

It is illegal to enter a terrier to ground, without written permission being carried. However, written permission is not needed for dogs that are to be used for retrieving and /or to be used in conjunction with a gun. Incidentally shooters are not legally required to carry written permission. Edited to correct.
  15. I've got Colins book here.... Do you mean Colin Watson? Have you read any of Desmond Nethersole Thompsons books? Yes. Snow bunting. I also have The golden eagle and sea eagle by J Whittaker, the journal of gerald tomkinson, as well as others. I collect books. especially rare, small batched ltd editions.
  16. It's a big ask.....as they can vary so much. BUT if I had to say, i'd say that the first bird is a female and the second a male.
  17. Skycat, IMO the public do not have anything to do with the Ban, nor will their opinion have anything to do with any further legislation. The only people that matter are the MP's. We could have been giving 10 million a week to good causes in the year befor the ban but the ban was still going to go through, this was down to MP's. Members of the public aren't interested. They're busy trying to get on with their lives. Realistically, a lurcher 'club' is going to have so few members it is not going to be able to do anything at all toward public opinion. The only way forward is unity a
  18. I'm out tomorrow night again, so i will take pics matey. The rechargable is unbelievabley light, and the corded one comes with a battery pack thats not much bigger than apacket of fags...technology eh!! Will know more once I've tested them......
  19. OK, you know best, you're right and I'm wrong.
  20. I'm still waiting for paulus to show his piccys.... :D
  21. I'm testing out the clu-lite rechargable and the corded. Will relay findings. At first glance the rechargable is very very good. And well cheap too.
  22. No, you're wrong again. The first port of call needs to be a discussion on how lurcher owners can benefit the CA, NOT the other way around. Once lurcher owners are of benefit then they are in a far greater position. The future of the CA does not revolve around lurcherwork, on the contrary, it is the opposite. That needs to be remembered first and foremost. Then things can move forward. If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem.... JMHO.
