They should immediatly open stoat trapping up to the other legal traps, that are on AIHTS.

Ideally need to be closer. Due to the poor conditions it was hard to get into a position that photo was probably 50-60 yards away. Yes Buddy, the best pics are to be found 8-15 foot away IMO. You've got to be prepared for some nights you don't get one single photo. It's important not to have too high expectations IMO. It's much harder than you think isn't it. many eyars ago when I was trying my hardest, and failing, I asked many people. Everyone had sage advice to give. But, they all had one thing in common; none of them had ever taken one single good lamping piccy. Sometimes

The 'smalelr' traps are the KORO's. They should allow all the other passed traps on AIHTS to be allowed int eh Ukl. It seems to me to be just aone-way scenario to clamp down further. Fair enough the MK4's but the MK6 is just ridiculous. Does it mean that the Mk4 and Mk6 are still legal for weasels and squirrels? :hmm:

Not Long Got Back From A Good Night

Beats a night in watching the TV anyway....keep at 'em!! -
A good first attempt....keep trying. :victory: At least you're out there with the camera, rather than posting other peoples images and pretending they're yours....

On the same note, I wonder if we will be allowed to trap stoat wiht the traps that other countries say is humane? After all, whats good for the goose? Or is this a case of one-sidedness?
-
Someones going to be making alot of money. Heres the thing, the Koros will be passed for free, but when someone else comes up with a better, more humane alternative, then the testing will now suddenly cost 10K with no guarantee of passing. So in effect, the powers that be, although they are shouting humaneness, they do not preach it IMO. It should be a level playing field IMO. When the Mk4's get banned, and they will, then there is little other alternative, except for Mk6's. But as we know, the Mk6 will probably get taken off the list for stoats. hhmmm.......

The double spring version is extremely powerful. But it takes a lot of effort and if you get a nip, you know about it! But, the trigger ensures lots of false catches, feet catches and such as, IMO.

This is a Koro, the type that is in for approval. The guy at Perdix brought them in and submitted them. If they get passed then there's some serious questions that need to be raised. The 'dog' actually flies up when the pan is depressed. If an animal is approaching from the LHS this dog will knock it out of the way. If the animal is approaching from the front, then the dog can still knock it out of the way. This trap is a powerful one, retails at about $17 in the USA and it could be so much better with adjustements. If an animal does go in perfectly then it is killed quickly, however, how ma

If humans were any other animal or bird they would be reclassified as subspecies without a shadow of a doubt. There are so many differences across the globe. There really isn't enough genetic difference between human populations to split them into subspecies. The current definition of subspecies requires abrupt changes in morphology, humanity is clinal. You are wrong. Look at Caribou for example, they have sub-species based almost entirely on where they are found. There is very very little difference, at all, save for antler mass. Look at the sub-species of white rhino..identic

You'd be your own species Tomo. :D

Lamping Last Night With The 150 Tracer

Corded comes with a micro battery. i have not used it extensively enough yet to see what the power drain/reserve is. I got both corded and rechargable to try this season, so far I'm impressed. -

Well, I had it out with the striker last night, lined them both up and there was no difference. The strikers beam looked yellow and the clu-lite looked white. Obviously there is a need for further testing, but I have to say I'm impressed! -

At £45 they are worth getting even as the lamp you just use to spot things from the motor. You get a car charger, mains charger and a red filter. I really don't know how they do it for the money.... -

Lads, get the clu-lite rechargeable. £45. It's superb. It is just so light you wouldn't beleive. A true bright, white beam and a good spot,. What's £45, take a gamble, you won't be disappointed. -
Further Update On New Lurcher Association
J Darcy replied to Dewclaw69's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
i just think the damage is done penny . the true old fashioned lurcherman ..woman will just keep doing what they have done for the past x amount of years and keep it to themselves ,they realised some time ago you just carnt educate pork!!!. Thats where a code of conduct will defend us. At present we have no defence. If the club gets recognition and everything goes to plan then there is a defence for the genuine lurcher person. -
You'd think that wouldn't you but nine times out of ten the vets over here don't check for a chip unless its been brought in as a stray Over here it will be different mate. Thats what the three vets I've spoken to have said anyway. But who knows Eh?

I beleive that the licence is merely a downloadable one. It is so that people do not trap and harm our native dormouse while they are going about trapping glis glis. I wish I had some glis glis around here. Would love to see some.

Further Update On New Lurcher Association
J Darcy replied to Dewclaw69's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
That's on the agenda matey. The organisation will iron out everyones ideas in the long run I'm sure. But in the short- term it needs people to support it. There's alwasy plenty to knock the CA, so now they've got an organisation to fight for lurcherwork they have gone real quiet. You can't please some folk, they just love to see the down side of everything. The code of conduct is just a guide. It is there simply to help defend lurcherwork against those who are out to wreck it.It is not law, just 'best practice'. -
The pure wildcat is finished. Unless the conseervation bodies have a hard-line approach to domestic cats. All ferals should be shot and all cats live trapped should be blood tested to see if they are genuine wild cats. If not they should be PTS. But I doubt if they would have that approach. So, in effect, the pure wild cat is done for IMO. I've spent some time in the Highlands, day and night, but I've never seen one....would love to.

In the coming of the law every vet will scan your dog as well. I've already got all mine done, the reason being that if they get lost or stolen then it's your best chance of seeing them again. There's already been many cases of dogs being rehomed to their original owners when they've been found. I like to hope for the best, but prepare for the worst. Nothing else in the world is more important to me, so I'm going to do everything I can for them.

Update On The National Lurcher Club.
J Darcy replied to sandymere's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
All this negativity..... make no wonder we get little positive coverage...... This is a chance for all those who have critisised the CA to get behind a lurcher club/group and show solidarity, support and to show that we are a branch of hunting that has a strong and passionate following.
