  1. Well there's nothing you can do about it matey. Just work her and enjoy her. You'll probably find that she puts a bit of weight on over the years. There is one more trick to try to get her to eat more and that is hand feeding her with the other dogs and maybe the 'competition' will force her into bolting down more than she normally would.
  2. It would be a dream on mine to get on a good trapline with a knowledgable guy for a month......great pics!
  3. Some saluki types never put weight on. Even though they have access to unlimited food they still look like an RSPCA advert. It's just their 'way'. However, having spent my lifetime involved in the saluki lurcher I can safely state that , IMO, the best thing for gaining weight is plenty of butchers waste and a nice, warm bed..... If i had to choose, I'd say lamb ribs is about the best for packing weight onto a dog....... However, some saluki types simply don't have an appetite and there's nothing you can do to force them to eat!
  4. And you wonder why theres no rabbits on it anymore lol 25 YEARS AGO IT WAS LIKE FIGHTING THE ZULU.S LOL THE MORE YOU TOOK THE BETTER THEY BRED,,,THEN THERE WAS NEXT TO NONE,,,VHD OR WHAT EVER TOOK NUM,S IN THE 100000,S Aye, I've done a bit around that area, there used to be some amount of tackle there. Plenty of roe too. I'd love a pound for every bunny thats been knocked over on the road up there over the years! I've been to that wildlife park, it's at Kingussie. Done a bit around there too. Had some great memories of Grantown on Spey, we used to chase the capercaillie about as you
  5. basically: wait for cloud. Go out and whack em. despite what the 'old poaching songs say, ignore the moon. Thats not how we did it on the estates,we shot open sited and practised pulling up the gun to the shoulder whilst standing directly underneath, when you can pull it up every time without adjustment to align the sites then you are ready for live quarry, you must be stealthy and quiet, took a dog to pin flappers that hit the ground and a lad behind to pick up, took some large numbers this way and yes we were aware of the moon but found the wind as cover was more important, great

  8. One clue; if he has his tail between his legs when he comes back it's nothing to do with jacking, it is generally to do with electric stock fencing.
  9. Don't forget, the summer's were always red hot week after week back then and yet there was three foot of soft fluffy white snow all winter long too.....
  10. North of the Humber they are only in isolated pockets and have not built up any numbers anywhere. I think it's safe to say that any Muntjac in the north didn't get there of their own accord. I have heard a hell of a lot of bullshine with regards muntys and I would always tell lads not to believe anything about them unless they've seen it with their own eyes. As a young man I followed up many stories and sightings in my local area. Not one was a muntjac. This small deer has spread much faster in the East than the West, obviously down to terrain. I was on the Fens the other week, on land th

  17. Have you trained many saluki lurchers buddy?
  18. Yes Mackem, the zander is , more or less, the walleye from the States. I wouodn't fancy eating one. To be honest if you're going ice fishing why not try for burbot instead.......and please, take some piccys!!
  19. Some good advice on this thread. However, it is worth mentioning that saluki lurchers do not think like other lurchers more often than not. Often they won't play tug, they are not naturally man friendly in some cases. You've got to get into their head, but once you're there then it's all peaches and cream.....
