  1. i agree, hounds or hound crosses, best noses in the canine world and good prey drive Deffinately, im the same, but a lot of people like a dog to work closer in when walking with a lurcher or two. I have cockers, but last year I crossed my cocker spaniel dog with my patterdale bitch, and the pup is comming along very well indeed, and I hope to breed her with a good stud dog from my local beagle pack in a couple of years, if she turns out as good as I think she will. The cross breds are way better than a straight spaniel, for me anyway. My terriers love bushing, but I prefer to keep them
  2. I use winchester supreme, 55 grn. Used to use Norma, then Win. SuperX 60grn's. But the supreme has been the best performer for me so far.
  3. I have mine on a diet of about half raw meat, either from butchers, waste quality, cheap stuff. Or rabbit/game/livestock aquired by myself. Other half, dry food. Have changed about a bit over the years, have tried Dr Johns and found the dogs did well on it. I have 10 dogs at the mo, costs me about 15 to 18 quid a week max, but much less when theres more rabbit etc.
  4. I know a man called Mike Hunt. He is a feckin c**t aswell! Cant remember who it was exactly, but one of the breeders of working sealyham terriers, from early 1900s(maybe lucas or might have been talked about in Lucas' Hunt and Working Terriers) had some unusual names for his dogs, there was FISH and SAUSAGE for a start. Im hoping someone a bit less tired than me will look up the details.
  5. I dont belive that anyone has killed one yet. Or even found a dead one. But if they have, and have kept it quiet, then they have made a big mistake. I would definately take one, given the right oppertunity. As this is a case that has had so much put into it with no real proof. Does anyone know for certain exactly what breed they are for deffinate! (from hair samples etc..). It seams most likely to be a panther, which is (correct me if im wrong) a black form of jaguar. But I thaught these were much larger? Can you get black mountain lions? As these are a bit smaller and (to me) look more s
  6. I would love a copy, ive heard its a cracking read.
  7. Dont like too from now until autumn, but, like others, I have jobs to do!
  8. Im hoping to buy a good camera one day, and if I can get shots half as good as them ill be happy!
  9. Avoid gas, its a bloody horrible and un-natural way to kill something. Do what Ditch said, and ask an experienced terrierman to take a look. Good luck with that!
  10. Keepering on an estate in Tynedale, near Kielder Forrest, one season there were 5 sightings of a large black cat within a month, all within the estate. I saw it first, and was previously very scepticle of their existance. It was on a shoot day, a small wild pheasant drive, which is a small block of scots pine surrounded by reshes. I was way out wide as the beaters came through the wood, and I noticed a dark, low-set cat creaping up the bottom of a wall heading away from the wood. It reached the end where the wall met another wall(T junction) and I saw it jump over the wall, I could hardly beli
  11. Correct me if im wrong. But thats not what they were bred for. They were bred for earthwork, mainly fox work. And should be kept primarily for this reason. JMO
  12. ??? Ive seen some cracking staffies in the field! The right sort will have a great nose and hunt up really well! Great partner for a lurcher. The right sort that is!
  13. Ive known farmers dump sheep in woods, some do it to avoid the paperwork, and charges that they get when one dies and has to be collected. Others, usually hunt supporters, put them in woods to attract foxes in to hunt. How do you know that most were males??
  14. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! there peeled!
  15. Nice loking pup, hope he turns out good for you.
  16. Ha haha, how much did that cost you?
  17. Aye canny, you keeping one? My bitch had 4 pups on friday night, 2 dogs 2 bitches, im keeping a bitch. Good luck with them,
  18. Like Proudy says, some of the things Frain talks about go against the grain with true terrier men. But still, there not a bad read, as long as you know whats what! Massive respect for Harcombe and Darcy and Lucas, 100% genuine down to earth books. Avoid Plummer, unless you like fairytales!!
  19. I basically agree with most of the comments made, and I hope the pup comes on for you. My half cross was totally the opposite to yours, and needed holding back. Good luck with that mate.
  20. Play Darts, mate. Ye not cut out for all this Shitter! you know what he means, I always prefer hemp over nylon, as the nylon ones are a nightmare in the hawthorn hedges.
  21. Kill that rabbit Have you tried one yet or were you just talking sh*t again???
