  1. Are you breeding vermin or what! .....................lol 'POOR QUALITY'..... Them snaps are awesome, well done!!
  2. They are pretty much everywhere i travel now. But I dont think they would be responsible for wiping out the rabbits, they will take some of them, but rabbits do get wary of them if persistently harrassed. The pigeon men have little to fear from them, the sparrow hawk, goshawk and peregrine are the ones that will take pigeon regularly.
  3. If thats what you really want to do then go for it. College is one option, when I was 16 and leaving school my folks insisted I carried on Education somewhere, I went to Newton Rigg, full time for two years, was fun, learnt about all related topics also like fencing, walling, forrestry machinery, ect ect... also do a few certificates, like chainsaw ect.. all very useful. But with keepering it can also be a good idea to start as a trainee on a good estate, as you would probably be given accomodation, small wage etc...as long as you dont mind ruffing it for the first couple of years, and make su
  4. I never went out of my way to control them, as the gaffer liked to have them about. The guns often shot them on shoot days. But I also caught a pair in a larsen, set for magpies, with eggs and a fake neast as bait. Plus the magpie call bird with rabbit as its food. May have been luck?? Dont know, as ive never had to trap them. Squirrel trap sounds an excellent idea, good luck!
  5. Any luck with the scent lures Ditch? I have found companies in USA that do lures for bobcat and cougar, but like you say, would these work on whatevers out here??
  6. Aye, nice looking dogs there, you must get a hell of a lot of work, to keep that many terriers. How many older ones have you got? Good luck with them
  7. He will be lucky to see it open, as the female rabbit will only go in with them for a very short time(5-10 mins). And try not to disturb it, as she will abandon them at the first hint of any disturbance. Well spotted though
  8. Someone else has asked this in another section, but anyway, i will add my bit here aswell. Nothing up on the fell where I live yet, snow today, so just as well! However I was fishing in scotland, Dumfriesshire, at Brighouse Bay saw a pair there. April 13th.
  9. Had a pic of this on my mobile! Four rabbits, a red-leg, a pheasant and a young gamekeeper!!!!
  10. Havent seen swallows in Northumberland yet, but on April 13th I saw a pair of them near Brighouse Bay, Dumfriesshire. Edited just to say, its a good job the swallows and martens havent come here yet, hard frosts and snow! Not a lot of insects about.
  11. As I mentioned somewhere above. Leopard seen in a city in India. Traps set and they caught a whole load of the bloody things. We're not dealing with Vulpes here. Even the undisputably being there Scottish Wildcat has Always been historically recorded as being the very devil to come up with. The things caught by Gamekeepers today and most likely diluted genetic stock, interbred with feral moggies and thus losing a good degree of their natural sneakyness. I worked in invernesshire for two years, where I found plenty of signs of wildcats and also saw one one the lamp. Down here I
  12. Nice one alimac Is that your bitch 'Neeps'?
  13. I regularly go hunting with my friend who works two staffy bulls,
  14. I can understand why your upset, but rules are rules and the Ban is the Law. Surely we can all understand why it has to be kept legal 'on-site'. Now im a hunter through and through, I always will be, but I know what I should and shouldnt post. We shouldnt get all upset because we cant see pics of deer being brought down, foxes being drawn etc..... Because we should see all we want out in the field. Just my opinion
  15. Sounds like you lot have a lot of fun with the birds, but sadly I had to break my lurcher to all game birds, as I work on several shoots.
  16. My half bred bull cross(avatar pic about 8 months old) wont retrieve at all! He is good with re call, and other obedience, but just wont carry anything [bANNED TEXT]-so-ever. Now he is aproaching 2 years old and needless to say I gave up a while ago. He will catch, then kill, then stand there with it. Or if I call him back, he comes back without it. Its a bit of a bugger as you could imagine, but his plus points far outweigh his bad. I didnt put him off at all. And tried all I could think of exept the dummy on the string, but im pretty sure he would have just caught, then dropped. But if I
  17. I still dont understand how these cats can move around so undetected. Every day I go about my daily work, and im constantly looking for signs of animals, being a pest controller and former keeper. Over the years I have become more adept at spotting the smallest of signs, especially those of predators, but although there was obviously a large cat on my ground, I couldnt find any droppings, tracks, kills or anything else. Its so frustrating!
  18. Ive a half bred bull cross, not the best feet. They are starting get a bit battered, but he is a heavy dog, almost 2 years old. But he is worked on fell ground alot, inc. scree and crags etc..
  19. Dont mean to offend or throw a spanner in the works, but to me the eaten rabbit looks as though a buzzard has killed and eaten it. Or if a mammal killed it and started it, a bird has had the last meal of it. Just the way the meat has been picked from the bone. Badgers usually manage to completely tear the rabbit out somehow, or at least skin off most of it, then crunch through the bones. JMO
  20. And that cow looks as though it needed the protien!
  21. Both usefull looking dogs. Are they well workrd? How do they perform?
  22. Stress Test Im not sure exactly how this works but its amazingly accurate read the full description before looking at the picture. The picture below has two identical dolphins in it. Look at both dolphins jumping out of the water, the dolphins are identical. A closely monitored scientific study revealed that, inspite the fact that the two dolphins are identical, a person under stress would find differences in the two dolphins. The more differences a person finds, the more more stress that person is experiencing. Look closely at the picture, and if you find more than two differences then yo
  23. Sounds ok, ive just come back from a sea fishing break in scotland, if I could have stayed at a place where I could also go hunting with the lurcher/dogs then I probably would have. Duno about what you could charge, I would not pay much. But you would benefit from extra custom in the winter months, wouldnt you? At perhaps, a higher rent ?? Are you talking just lurchers, or would there be work for other dogs (terriers/spaniels etc..). Regards
