  1. At present, 2 spaces, for handler + dog(s) on the bushing team. I took these pics on the south coast of France, but they are all present on the land in Aragon. This is curry plant, that is great in cooking. This is wild asparagus, the roe deer love this plant. This is the dwarf oak, the boar love the acorns. Fennel My bitch... the pines are quite similar to the 'scots' variety, but strangely they cling onto their old cones for years.
  2. There are a couple of openings on the January hunt due to cancelations! PM me for a bit of craic about it.
  3. Yes, I like the drive into Catalunya, you start seeing the orange groves, palm trees etc.. lovely blue Mediterranean sea to snorkel in, missing it already!
  4. Anna, most of it looks like those pictures, woody shrubs that grow to chest height like rosemary and a dwarf oak, theres no leafy plants or trees at all, unless by the river or a spring... but trees (pine) grow in some of the valleys, thats where the boar spend their days Its quite a dramatic change, once you cross the Pyrenees and drop down into the desert!
  5. I didn't have the camera with me when we visited the land last month. But I snapped these from the vehicle passing some similar looking land. The land we are hunting contains some pine cover up some of the small glens, and even fresh water springs, which you can imagine are a real draw.

  8. Would a change of date help?
  9. Cheers Mush, Aye, the landowner reckons below 10 for his area would be normal and could feel chilly, its right in the Ebro valley and it was like a wind tunnel when I was there. DnN
  10. The landowner will have a firearm in the vehicle if needed for dispatch. Either the 3rd and 4th, or 4th and 5th of November. ? Pm me if you have issues.
  11. Yeah Mushroom, its hot, Im heading to the coast today! Best by the water, hoy the lobster pot in, jobs a good'n Dates... I think we can choose our dates for early November. Thanks Tyla. Should we say first week of Nov? Or does anyone have preferences? DnN
  12. Everyone must have their EU health insurance cards that GD Waz posted about earlier in the thread, mine came within a fortnight of ordering online, its free, easy.
  13. Hello Im at the campsite near the hunting grounds. Yesterday I met the landowner and after filling my belly with tasty local tapas and lager we went in his car to the land, for a wander about. The land rises up from an irrigated arable strip into wild desert scrub land, low hills, with scrub bushes like rosemary, a dwarf oak with leaves like small holly leaves and tiny acorns which the boar love and hardy grasses ... scattered over the land are small pockets of pine woodland, and one of these, at the top of a small valley is a fresh water spring, which acts like an oasis and all the l
  14. Ok ok, I've thought long and hard about your advice Eric, and took it all on board.... We have decided to call the hunt off. In fact most of the lads are now giving up the dogs all-together. Thanks again mate, Bye
  15. Hi chaps, when I get time I will send a pm to everyone about camping and a couple of other things, but for now have a think about when is best... the last week in October (starting 27th) Or Early - Mid January. Just have a think, still plenty of time to find the most suitable dates. Cheers, DnN
  16. I will still be abroad, but I hope you lads get together it sounds great crack!
  17. Appreciated! And I agree, i rarely buy meat or fish, you just cant beat getting out and catching your own! Im getting hungry looking at that lol DnN
  18. Hi Newkid, Nice catch mate Ive never fished for bass much, but I did catch a nice one off Nova Scotia, tasty it was, cooked there on the beach.... How do you gather the sand eels? And are they noticeably better than lures? I prefer using natural local baits whenever I can. Cheers DnN
  19. Ive got the list of folk that are coming to Spain finished, looks like a nice bunch of lads with some useful dogs. Still some work to do on travel. If anyone wants a copy of the team, let me know, as it would be good to comunicate amongst yourselves regarding travel. I ditched a few that for whatever reason, have started ignoring my attempts to get in touch, but I see your online regular... well all I can say is that someone more keen got your spot! DnN
  20. Yeah I heard that Tim. They have popped up all over... South Northumberland too.
  21. Aye wax cotton is ok, great for wading through brambles... but they wont hold out water for a day, not up here, they kind of smell too. But like you say if having your bum free is a bonus then... whatever floats your boat Colin thats all im saying haha
  22. They were a bit like that, but with thick leather from the bottom of the leg up to above the knee. They are still serving me well, and that is unusual maybe I have been too kind on these as they look smart too lol Edit to add... looked more like this but with leather instead of canvass or whatever, I guess they dont make them anymore haha http://www.seelanduk.co.uk/products/seeland-products/trousers/exeter-trouser-2.html
  23. look at makes like deerhunter, seeland, harkilla etc for silent, waterproof, breathable trousers.. there loads of makers, i get a good season at least from a pair, and for comfort in shitty weather they are worth the money. i got some with leather front that were fairly tough, they done 2 seasons lol
  24. I grew up with a non descript collie type cur for a hunting dog, and was always out mooching, or shooting with him, was ok for fur and feather.. Ive seen plenty with very bad traits for working dogs, but the good ones are super dogs... if you get on well with it, its friendly and obedient, and willing to work for you, and it fits into your team, then you might have a good prospect for a hunting dog. Good luck
