Is lack of "knuckle" an indicator of growth ending?

my vet told my mate his pup of 8 weeks oldwas getting to much protein casue of the size of its knuckles. i went to the same vet about 5 weeks later with a pup aged 8 weeks old and she told me it wasnt getting enough calcium cause it knuckles were to big. some vets dont have a bloody clue so im going to stick to the theory that big knuckles means more growth -
