  1. I was doing some research on new magnum talpa traps and came across this thread. I am surprised how enthusiastic some of you are about Talpex style traps. Whilst I do find them an excellent trap in some situations they suffer many of the same problems as scissor traps, i.e. on stony ground they not infrequently get jammed open by a stone, thus letting the mole escape. In winter the soil freezes round the trap thus rendering it inoperable, and the magnum talpa is unusable in sheep fields as they get kicked over. Duffus suffers none of these problems.
  2. Well I totally agree with you on Duffus but am very surprised you have never come across the mole that always plugs the Duffus. They may be few and far between but when you do get one the Talpex is the answer. Regards Chris
  3. Can anyone tell me where to get genuine Talpex from at a reasonable price. Someone mentioned Killgerm but they are far too pricey if you want 200! What I am really after is the importer or even the name of the company who manufacture in Holland. Chris
  4. Talpex is very useful for the odd mole that consistently digs under a tunnel trap. I always have a few in the armoury.
  5. AAAGH. On no account buy big cheese traps. Their tunnel trap is particulaly useless. Loop is too long and does not pull up against the tunnel hard enough to humanely despatch mole, and they wriggle out
  6. Best traps are made by Bethel Rhodes and The Flat Pack Company. To contact them see my website www.warrenfarm.co.uk click on Mole ten Trap Review. Bethel Rhodes took over the manufacture of the Duffus Trap when the Duffus family gave up. The Flat Pack is a very good copy and actually has a stonger spring and is made from slightly thicker wire. Disadvantage of the latter trap is that they are slightly less easy to set sensitively, but on the other hand the moles seldom bend the trigger loop as they do with a Bethel Rhodes
