  1. Isn't that what a Patterdale is anyways?????
  2. Just goes to show the difference between kc breeding and worker to worker breeding. Fair play. Id love to see these working fox terriers in action I think the point being made by some of these folks is that some of these KC dogs didn't lack anything. It is safe to say that all fox terriers at this point come from a KC background at some point even if they are being bred as workers.
  3. That is very true but there are some parts of the US where the people are very laid back. For the most part people from the cities and suburbia have to be loud, crass and over excited in order to survive. You guys complain that your housing prices are expensive. Ours were just as bad until the housing market crashed over here. Hey Frosty, do most folk still rent in the US, or are more trying to buy these days? The realestate market crashed so its a buyers market. That being said our economy is not doing too great so people dont have money to buy with. If you can afford it it

  5. Quit stirring - you're a very naughty boy, you are. Frosty have you ever been over here? no but I have family who has.
  6. Family was originally from England so I would like to check out the homeland. How do you guys treat someone from the US? As far as immigration I think every country has the same problem. Its funny even though I am a US citizen and I love my country but I always considered Europe to be the homeland of my family and have some sort of allegiance to it. :drinks: It is sad about the immigration problems and we have the same problem here and it seems like the politicians cater to it despite what the citizens say. just be thankful you dont have 34 million illegal Mexicans who are ta
  7. I am from the US but I would like to check it out some day.
  8. I wasnt sure where to post this but I wanted to get opinions of how it is to live in England. What are the pros and cons?
  9. 99.99999% is that a number that you calculated through years of experience or did you pull that out of thin air. These are the statements that I am referring to.
  10. I am just returning the favor. These myths have been all over the internet for the past few years, all coming from breeders of 'working dogs' I do not own a fox terrier, but I can't stand BS and there seems to be a lot of it going around these days. I am sure there are stafford patt crosses that suit their owners just fine.
  11. So a half bred patterdale with a shot of non terrier blood is automatically going to be game because it is bred by working people. Those dogs are always workers no matter what is in them because they were bred by working terrier men. A fox terrier has a very weak jaw, you can see this when a fox terrier grips a towel and you can swing it around in the air, very weak indeed. These are myths purported by the so called working terrier breeders so they can sell you a "working dog" I bet for every fox terrier that cant fit in the fox hole there is a patterdale that won't either. I fo
  12. What kind of hose pipe do you use? Is it rigid so you can poke it in wood piles?
  13. I have seen some guys with two stroke engines from a trimmer. Do you just hook a pipe up to the exhaust? Any one have a schematic?
  14. They use them for blood tracking wounded deer. They have been also used for flushing and retrieving pheasent.
  15. I have been doing some historical research on these breeds. I think we can agree that they are both closely related and really variants of the same breed. There has been claims that the russell is the true fox terrier and the wire and smooth are abominations ruined by the show ring. While it is true that some features of the modern fox terrier has been exagerated, it seems that most of continental europe and the eastern bloc have a use for them. If you look at old working photos of working fox terriers they still have more resemblance to the smooth and wire fox terriers than do the
  16. Any terrier will go after rats and rabbits. Go to the shelter and find a terrier who needs a home. I am sure he or she will do the job.
  17. I just wanted to know if a coyote would mess with one of these dogs or would they be more trouble than its worth. I dont think anyone in their right mind would use a terrier to hunt coyotes a little bit of a size difference going on. A lot of terriers are hunting off a leash and I am sure some have ran into a coyote or taken off after one.
  18. I know a pack would make short work of any dog but would a single coyote go through the trouble of trying to eat one of these dogs?
  19. I have a kc lakeland with a nice wiry coat and the snow never even phases him. I cant get him inside when there is snow out there. My grandmothers poodle always has snow sticking to the coat, so thats why I cant imagine how these soft coats could be beneficial. Did Kerries and wheatens look like pulis in the old days? A nickname I have heard a few time for the kerrys is a Pit in poodles clothing. Do they have any working qualities?
  20. Well I do more reading than posting on this forum due to the fact I have nothing intelligent to say. I do have a question. Kerry blue and wheatens have had a history as working dogs in Ireland. I honestly dont know if they are being used on a regular basis but do you think that the coats on these two breeds existed back in the day. Did working Irish farmers actually take a scissor to their dogs every so often to keep them trimmed. I have no clue why anyone would want poodle fur on a kerry or a bedlington or soft silky fur of a wheaten if these were working dogs at one time.
  21. Does his coat grow out like a show wheaten? Did the original Kerrys and wheatens that were used as hunting dogs back in the day have these coats that needed to be trimmed? I would think a farmer back then didnt have time to be primping his dog?
