a mate of mine has a rescue springer,i had never seen a more timid and scared dog.he has persivered with it and it is now a good beating dog.it just takes time Just take it slow with the dog she will pick it up don't feel the need to rush. Keep going back to the same thing until it's right. You need to choose what you want from your dog weather it is a picking up dog or just a beating dog. if it is a beating dog just do the minimum you need from him I.E you don't need all that hand signals rubbish just the pip left and the pip right will be enough make sure her recall is ok that's th -

yes thats years. i did take this into consideration as we got her from a rescue home and she was quite badly behaved when we got her. i have taken most of that out of her. i could very well be waisting my time but she has showed me some slight promise and only started shaking it when she became evidently bored. i dont know who had her she had no history. we got her from a very respectable dog shelter in kendle. i get the impression you are a dog handler of some kind from other posts you have posted on different topics, which gives me the idea that you are going to tell me i am wasting my time. -

shes not a pup shes about 3/4. she knows heel and basic recall. i thought i may aswell give it a shot, from what she has shown so far i think it is possible. i was just stuck with what to do when we get it wrong. she doesnt play with toys at home nor do i play tug of war with her. so is doing it everyday too much then. i do only have her do it 3/4 times then let her have a run. it will be hard work just with the nature of the dog but im rely determined to pull it off. at the moment she will do it 3/4 times usually the fourth she will start shaking it so i only do it three times so we end on a -
sorry to bother you again with a similar question. i have been training my dog now for the past week everyday and its been going ok. but there are times when she doesn't do what she is supposed to eg pick it up shake it and sit down and chew it. what do i do when this happens ,keep shouting NO FETCH like a maniac or is there a procedure for when the dog and i get it wrong. she has been doing pretty well all considered

have just been editing Grims shooting persmission letter and noticed i had to omit the part that mentions that "i am a full member of the BASC". i was just wondering if most people on this board are members and if so is it worth it and what do you get out of it (except a car sticker). i also wanted to know if it makes it easier to attain shooting permission aswell. cheers ben

thing is when shes doing it i get so chuffed i her to do it again i do refrain and keep them short. one quick question though. if i through sticks for her just to chase am i de- training her or what or shall i try and get her to retrieve it

a mate of mine swears that the s410 .77 is tops but never having a .77 i am skeptical. just wanted to know what is better .77 or .22. what are the pros and cons. may sound noobyish but i am interested to know been thinking about part exin my s400 for a s410 if i did what would be best to choose.

i had my first proper training session with her today and she got the gist of it and was bringing it back too my feet i had her on a length of parachord. she lost interest after a bit. i only got her to do it about 5 times. i have heard that doing it too much can be counter productive. does this sound right

rely appreciate the advice. i feel there is little hope but shall try i mite learn something

i know this but i thought i could maybe get her to do it at some level like you said. she is quite good as a chaser but will again try to shred it rather than let me get it. i want a retrieving dog for when i go out with my air rifle. i also have a jack russel would it be better me trying to teach her to retrieve. i just thought id give it a go anyway. thanks for the reply

what are you hunting with a 30ftlber .harrier jump jets? -
deviating from the topic slightly. is it not illegal to hunt with dogs. i looked at a couple of your pictures before and was impressed then i wondered if you were still allowed to hunt with dogs. im all for it btw my gramps in n.ireland owned a set of fox hounds
-
they are not even pheasants they are Argentinian racing pigeons
-
i didnt use a lamp. plenty of people have shot pheasant with air rifles. they were both clear head shots. trigger happy you could call it.
