Kennel Blindness, Denial An Bullshit?
pritch replied to jimbobsmutts's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
i run lurchers northernlite, bred off lurchers that knew there job an gave there all, bred for work an not a 2nd thought put into there looks or anything else, i doubt i even know what is in them, other than otherlurchers that were good eniough to breed off who'd of guessed it, thowt you'd have the real deal while the rest of us mere mortals just have rubbish -
good do the tomo you'll have to get some photography lessons off andy lol
-
why did folk not use bull x's in any number before the 70's they've been around for hundreds of years, every butcher would of had one at one time it's only with the job of lamping fox's that the bull x became popular & as an out & out fox dog the percentages are in your favour of get a dog that will do the job you want as against say a collie or saluki cross but as an all round hunting dog there are far better options out there, tenacity like any quality is a good thing in the right amount but too much is just as bad as to little

Is the bottom one from Plummers line ? allegedly lol

Looking At Getting A New Lurcher What Breed?
pritch replied to yorkshireone's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Just had a mate offer me a wire pointer greyhound 2year old what do you reckon? never had owt to do with pointer/greys but know plenty of shooting lads with pointers & there not a dog for a novice,if not properly trained they will run riot.very willful dogs so if your interested make sure it's got a good recall & stock broken as a minimum & see it working, don't just take someones word it's a good un -
Will The Ban Ever Be Lifted Just Wondering ?
pritch replied to harryrod's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
why would they lift it, is anyone doing anything to get it lifted, orgnisations such as basc,& bfss took millions of £ & did fook all.where did all the money go,is anyone doing anything now to get it repealed,i think not.you just have to face up to the fact the law is what the law is and it's not them in westminster that needs to get a backbone it's us we allowed them to do what they did and took it lying down -
why you bothered about feathering does it make em hunt better ?

the walks should be ok as long as he ain't to tired ( your call) he's staying near you because he's not confident & looks to you for reassurance always being able to see you knowing your there to run to you can use this time to your advantage with the recall when you think he's gettin to the end of his range, call him (as long as he ai'n't to occupied wi summet else) as he's gettin to his limit anyway he should come back no problem plenty praise, treat whatever should be forthcomming,so it's always a pleasurable expierence when he comes back,it's a short window, soon he'll be ranging wi
-
i agree with the above posts biking will do nowt for your pup far better walking him in different places let him discover new sights, sounds & smells, the more he expierences the more confident he will be & the more chance you have of having a well rounded dog at the end of puppyhood.ATB wi your pup

well as i said mine is now twelve still catches the odd un on are mooches & there is next to feck all local but he has caught rabbits all over these isles on all different terrains & i'm sure he would of caught by you as i'm sure andy's don would do now.rabbits are no faster by you than they are down here I agree rabbits are to a degree no faster, but can be a hell of a lot more testing and awkward to catch on some terrain compared to others. Take for example golf course rabbits as compared to rabbits in tufty fields surrounded by drystone walls i agree totally as i said earl

well like owt else ray there all different, i have a son to my owd bitch he himself now is 12 & like his mum he has never stalked & would never choose to not run a rabbit unless he was seriously injured & he is over 1/2 collie & i would have another like him tomorrow he's the best dog i've had by a mile
-
i have had one as has been said for general moochig ferreting you'll find them hard to beat & not to bad on rough ground moorland & such where the terrain prevents faster dogs hitting top speed, feet are near indistructable as are the dogs themselves but if your mainly lamping they don't offer as much as the 1/2 cross as they do lack a gear or two at the top end
