  1. some crackin pics there mate & lovely dogs
  2. wouldn't of thowt they would be an easy dog to get on with unless you had an awful lot of work, plus you would have to be right on top of them whilst training.i've a cocker & it's just non stop never seems to tire & it's manic dosen't even slow down & it's a yappy cnut not to bad in a bushin dog but you wouldn't want it in a lurcher
  3. now that moss was a leggy collie 25" tts if i remember rightly it's the grandsire to my old dog of the same name
  4. it will charge may tale a while though as that charger is fo a 7 ah & your new battery is nearly 3 times as big
  5. personally i've never had one come into season before 9 month of age & my current bitch was over 2 when she had her 1st season a really fit bitch may never break down as like athletes they don't carry enough body fat & the body won't start a menstrual cycle
  6. good post, but the last line sticks out to me as that is why i do it for fun i enjoy it. it ain't a contest i may or may not have good dogs but if i'm out enjoyin myself it's all good & while like anyone else i like to get a few it ain't a necessity & it's a good job round here lol but that don't make the dogs any better or worse than anyone else's & as you say long may it continue I'm 48 in July Pritch and if the next 20 years goes past as quick as the last 20 I'll be knocking 70 before I know it...scary thought...so I'm just going to enjoy it all for what it is and my dogs

  8. Tell me of a breed of dog more powerful pound for pound than a greyhound then. All mastiff types, bull types, shepherd types, deerhounds..... Dnt get me wrong we need grey blood for there pace but I wouldnt add grey for power ffs where do you think anything gets it's speed from be it a boat, car or a dog, power no power no speed, simples
  9. have to say the greyhound & the saluki are the fastest two breeds of dog in the world both capable of over 40 MPH so if a saluki can do 40 & you add speed by way of adding greyhound,i can't see owt being faster never mind owt with malamute in
  10. is it any good lads not to far from me lookin for a few shows that are localish
  11. to true the bitch i wrote about could of never seen a bunny all summer & still of yapped i will never know but the feelin i got when it happened i won't forget & i will always think what if
  12. aye i had one got her as a pup& when she was about 4 mth of age i was exercising the dog in a place that loads of dog walkers go, i'd hardly put a foot forward after letting the dogs off the lead 7 a f****n rabbit jumped up right in front of the pup about twenty yards ahead bobbed into the shrubbery & the pup took off singing like amy f****n whinehouse my heart sunk like a brick.i kept away from anywhere that could hold a rabbit mostly road walking all summer, i met fuji that year & told him as i was cursing my bad luck as at the time mb was running whisper who was only a m
  13. i'll start by saying i've no experience of saluki x's what so ever, but what do you mean by getting on their wave length, as i expect the dog to get on the same page as me not the other way round.if you mean not to expect collie x sort of reactions then i get it but not to sure what you mean You just have to get to know the dog and once you have the dog's trust,it,s all about patience and putting the work in,like the saying goes if it's worth having it's worth working for sounds like what folk say about a collie x lol

  15. suppose it all depends what you want your dog for if your ferretin, mouchin & maybe a bit a lampin you won't go far wrong with a dog as you've described. but if your mainly lamping or are gonna start adding other species to you list you would be better off with summet else
  16. as has been said you done a Stirling job there fella, hope she's all you wish for
  17. thats what counts, it ain't better or worse, just different sorry thats to jamesmc
  18. he just wants a dog that he can use for picking up & take a few rabbits now & again, a 1/2x be it a collie or a lab would be perfect imo as long as the goalposts don't change
  19. well i have to agree with the older lads, wastage is a term for people who are after fast dogs there's a thread on hear about 3/4 collies well what you term as wastage would suit the folk who recognize the value of such a dog & hunt the land & in a way that those sorts of dogs flourish admittedly there needs to be enough folk after that sort of dog at the time of your litter & as for the sentence you highlighted being nonsense i don't know of any line of lurcher that doesn't need to be pepped up with new blood from time to time with a good dose of base in it be it a 1/2 x or
