Because they can. I was stoped once, When asked why, he said "You were driving erreticly" ,I asked, "Could you would define erratic, so I could put it right". "No" he said, "juast erratic".. HMMM you cant fix it if you dont know what it is. He then showed me a breathaliser (passed as I dont drink) it pays not to ask, just to do as they ask...or they will try another angle on you... John

I have just got myself a new CZ Varmint in .22lr I have some creep in the triger, I`m thinking of trying the brooks so I am interested in all posts on this subject, I havnt had chance to get out with it, Just zerroed it on the club range and was getting 5 round groups of 8mm @25m. Much better than the 10/22 I traded it in for. Keep me posted lads.... John

My shooting club have a chap who collects the empty brass and lead from our range, apparantly he has to have a liscence to do this due to the amount of un-burnt powder in the cases and the sweepings, IT IS AN EXPLOSIVE PILE OF SCRAP, and rarley does come across a live round. All such missfired rounds etc have to be handed to the range officer so they can be desposed of in a proper maner. I hope your mate doesnt get the full force of the police on his case but in all honesty he is to blame for not pointing out to the staff on the tip / landfill site of the potential COSHH problems with such m

I have a number of farms I shoot over, I aquired these permisions through cold calling, I will do the odd bit of work for them in return (Electrician) but as yet I have not been asked, however come Xmas I will treat them all with a bottle of the hard stuff, as a gesture of good will and a thank you. Nice Shooting mate. I for one think the ban on shooting Badgers should be lifted, these animals are known carriers of Bovine TB these animals are a threat to our Cattle Farming trade, I have a number of shoots and they are all cattle and Sheep farmers. EVERY FARMER on my shoots want these animals culled, 1 in particular is overrun with them and curses the governments legislation. Our farmers have it hard enough. Bovine TB Foot and Mouth Blue Tongue The list goes on and on. We are not talking eradication, we are not talking killing for the sake of it, its about management of ou

Hi I have tried Remington Subs had no trouble at all with the 10/22 ok maybe 1 or 2 out of 500. Had to try CCI (Remy out of stock) can’t wait to get rid of them absolute RUBBISH in the 10/22, aint it just when you need that mustard shot, and what happens ...a miss fire...bummer..It was that tight I had to use the point of my knife to get it out.. Never again. I guess it’s up to the gun, each has its own preference. Looking to get a CZ bolt action( better accuracy) in the near future. Happy Hunting, -
Can I just say a BIG THANKS to all for your input. I will having seen the video on U-Tube opt for a 17hmr, after all the bunnies where I shoot are VERY shay, I will speek to FLO regarding an open ticket and take it from there.

As it happens I have provision on my ticket for; 22lr Rifle x2 22lr mod. 223 Rifle. 223 mod. 308 rifle. Given the new laws isn’t it a that I can’t just use the 223 for small deer and vermin control as the land is not on the register and the farmers don’t want to be bothered with the politics.. Sorry I’m digressing a little.

You could ask for a "coterminous" licence for £60 and have both FAC and SGC.. save "loads o money" Good Luck which ever way you go about it. it just takes time...loads of time in my case ie, 6 months probation at gun club, the full membership, only then could I apply, as I had no land to shoot over at the time. and boy was it hard work getting permissions,

Thanks for your advice. I do see your point for longer shots, and my game are very wary, the first glance of a human and they’re gone....FOR HOURS...so i guess a 17hmr would be better..HHMM But do I have to ask plod to check over the land. I have use of 22lr and the shot gun on all my shoots, but the farmer’s don’t like to have plod pestering them. For an instance. One farmer has a problem with dear and foxes on his land, I told him I would have to ask plod for permission to use cnt fire and inform DEFRA of my intensions and ask them for licence. This phased him and replied,

I have been using 22lr for some time now, I am always reading you guys harp on about the 17 hmr..Is it really as good as you all say it is? Or is it the old story in air gun hunting world,,, .177 v`s .22. I`m thinking it is, yes it does have a flatter trajectory compared with the 22lr, but the 22lr has less of a problem with wind. Oh and the 17hmr is double the cost of the best 22lr round. Is it a case of swing and roundabouts.. I’d love to know before I send away £30 for a variation.

Not much else to be honest, Subs I find are best and work nice with the mods. High velocity are ok, cheep n cheerful but more of a crack even with a mod. Some people use high velocity for close range foxing but I would not recommend unless you are absolutely certain on the shot placement. Happy Hunting...

Must admit to cleaning my bunnies in the field, I then hang them in a cooler overnight, this relaxes the meat and is easier to cut. I like to make kebabs for the barbie, this is my recipe. YOU WILL LOVE UM. 2 Rabbits. 4 Cloves Garlic. 1 Red Pepper. 1/2 cup Olive Oil. 1 Packet button Mushrooms / Field Mushrooms. 1 Packet Cherry Tomates. 1 nob butter. Take off the saddle meat and cut into 1inch cubes. Pour the olive oil into a microwavable bowl.crush the Garlic and pop into the microwave with thew butter, warm gentley. Remove and add the Rabbit Cubes. Mix well and let stand f

Hi I was wondering if anyone has any idea on how to prepare stretch and dry Rabbit / Squirrel pelts, and what things can be made with them, I would like to find more use for them than for Fox and Corvid bait. Hope you can help me and stop me from waisting them Thanks in advance...Hi I was wondering if anyone has any idea on how to prepare stretch and dry Rabbit / Squirrel pelts, and what things can be made with them, I would like to find more use for them than for Fox and Corvid bait.
