help with rough shooting
Country Life replied to langouroux's topic in Driven, Walked Up, Rough Shooting
A Gundog is an asset that you can not live without, (if you have one), BUT they are not essential for rough shooting, I shoot over rough and hilly terrain I would not cover this ground without my Tess, she does me proud BUT being a Springer she will always think she knows best and keeping her close and flushing where YOU want her to flush can be a little bit of a headache. Springers never grow up... If you shoot over water you will need a dog without question, I wouldnt dream of shooting over or near water without a gundog. moreover to have a trusted compainion by your side takes a hell of -
I subscribe but I think they are on general sales about 27th of the month. But on occasion they are later. I have all "Sporting Rifle" from 8 to 39 plus to earlier ones going cheep to anyone interested PM me. John

hawke 3-9X50 IR red or green ??
Country Life replied to nealey's topic in Reloading and Gun Maintenance
Hi As far as I am aware there is no way of changing the colour of thr IR, just the brightness. These I think are pre set and I dont think you have a choice of colour. John -
If you want to change your gun or add another you simply apply for a variation to your FAC. It is better to put on your ticket on application the rifles / guns you may want in the future, including the mods. the FEO can advice you when he does his visit to check your safe etc. for example, 1 .22 bolt action rimfire rifle. 2 .22 moderator 1 .22 semi auto rimfire rifle 1 .17 hmr rimfire 1 .17 hmr moderator 1 .243 cnt fire bolt action rifle 1 7 shot semi auto shotgun By doing this you will have to account for all enteries and why you want them. I did it this way and got all min

Scope Preference: Fixed or Variable Magnification
Country Life replied to Sterry's topic in Reloading and Gun Maintenance
Chalky, the sniper was http://dic.academic.ru/dic.nsf/enwiki/2524516 Good read though,,interesting,,,maybe they use logs for distance / alt /moisture, or just a bolistics calc, etc, etc, so they can just dial in to the target,...it did take three shots though... Still I couldnt do that. -
Scope Preference: Fixed or Variable Magnification
Country Life replied to Sterry's topic in Reloading and Gun Maintenance
I voted fixed...Although I have zoom on my .22 CZ 452 it has been on X6 since they day I got it. Having said that I have tried the zoom only to find out that zero has moved, maybee I dont spend enough on glass. John -
You guy`s must have it easy, I would be lucky if I saw that many bunnies in a month let alone shoot them... NICE ONE ...Jammy buggers... John

Nice one, Mine was ok, went on one of my rough shoots, Mad Dogs n Englishmen, come to mind, Tess, my Springer, worked hard, she flushed to Rabbits for me, so I just had to give them the 28g`s worth. then she`s off after the retreve, i was knackerd just waching her, it must have been 20deg +. Orther than that what can I say, a nice hot day, in the best company "Tess" and some of the best views in North Wales.. John

Custom? .223 rifle- Jeff Bucknell
Country Life replied to danebrewer10's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I can remember my first shot with a .22lr.. Back in the good old 1977..open sights, at umm, must be an age thing . I can only remember getting 2 bulls, the instructer behind me, "good shooting, but your at 11 o`klock, try a little lower and you will be in the BULL". So I did. Missed by a mile. I looked behind, It was then I noticed, he was talking to the lad next to me... I dont know the things you remember, and dont forget.. Who cares anyway, memories are for yourself, to share or even to bragg about, who`s botherd? or are we all wanna be`s... As for the topic ...I just -
I have an SR6 on my CZ452 .22, it works just fine no trouble at all, never lost zero, cost about £100. I cant fault them, ok compaire them to lets say an s n b and there is no comparison, regarding light gathering potensial, like anything else on the market more money = better optics. The SR6 is designed for air rifles, the retical is VERY USEFUL.. Check out this link. http://www.hawkeoptics.com/riflescopes/hawkesr/index.php John

posh shooting club in devon with a semi?
Country Life replied to wayne peters's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Not much to add to this other than, SEMI`S ARE SOMETIMES NOT ALLOWED AT CLAY SHOOTS. I would ask first. Save any embarrassment. I have a Baikal 12g old as F**k twin trigger n all, drop clays all the time.. Let the other lads have a go and they couldn’t hit a barn door from 10 paces. It isn’t the cost of the gun it’s the person on the trigger mate, I have read countless times of people buying expensive guns only to find that they can’t shoot for peanuts with it. I have also read that some guns out perform expensive guns no end. My Baikal is a cheap work a day gun fixed chok -
I would not bother mate, YOU PAYS YOUR MONEY AND TAKES YOUR CHANCE. As they say, But dont be fooled in thinking you are getting a good deal, the only person making money is the seller if he/she sells any, that is.. makes you wonder what they get them for. you and your rifle deserves better, trust me you will not be happy..put the money on a Hawke SR6. these were designed for air rifles, and have a retical that works for you once zeroed. Happy Hunting John

Dont dissmiss the air rifle, tools for jobs as they say.. I use a shotgun, rimmy, and air rifle, they all play there part at the right time / mood. I shoot with a friend who uses an air rifle, he has a great kill ratio, but like anyone who is big enough to admit it.. We have all missed a well thought out shot, resulting in a less than perfect kill, if you are lucky enough to get a 2nd off, if you are not well that rabbit will suffer and die slowly. On the last ocasion he had shot a rabbit, I heard the shot and the impact and it sounded a good clean shot, (if ever you can). Only to

I would ternd to agree with this one.. I shoot .22lr in comps, the average trigger pull tends to be about 2onz. Moving up to cntr fire this seams to increase up to an average of 2lb, this as would the magazines put it, "a good pull, not heavey nor too light". A heavy triger will only pull the rifle off target, right handed people will pull shots to the right, as left will pull to the left. at 25m I shoot prone with .22lr Walther KK Match, at that distance the differance from hitting the BULL and missing the entire target is about 0.01 deg of movement at the muzzel. police took my shotgun certificate
Country Life replied to John-B's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Pardon, LOL you've lost me I think he was on the lines that he may wish to become an arsonist... Its a disgrace considering you was up front and said you had no firearms at home. After all the tickets you have are all on a compurer file / database. I would assume that you filled in the correct paper work describing how you got rid of your guns, and in that case they was out of order turning up armed and mob handed. I am a member of BASC and if that was to happen to me I would have been on the phone to them ASAP. I had depression before I applied for my tickets, doc wrote to -

I think you are a lucky bugger. I started making sticks last summer, When the misses drags me around these boot sales Ive alays got an eye open for somthing special, never happens to me though.. Well spotted its a shame about the law, perhaps your FLO will be able to advise you with de-activation.. I was handed a .25 semi- auto pistol a couple of years ago by a work mate who was cleaning out his mothers loft. I took it to a gunsmith who then told me he would not be able to de-activate it, and will have to inform the police. That same Sat evening about 22:00 a demanding knock at th

Where to keep your certificate
Country Life replied to lorelei0922's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Its always advisable to take it every time you go out shooting, Just in case plod stops you all questions can be answerd, and the gun will not be confoscated (it will if the holder does not have the ticket with them). A leather wallet is advisable to keep it cleen and safe, ALL gun shops sell them. John -
webley semi auto ...sling!!!
Country Life replied to sauer's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
It would be an idea to check out your local gun smith. I have seen shotgun slings specialy made and look rather tempting and by all accounts no fixings are required. This may be of help.. http://www.cheshiregunroom.com/store/sling...253_55_297.html John -
I have a CD full of targets, if you would like a copy please PM me with your address and i will send a copy to you. John

No problen having a rifle for target work only and by FAR the easiest way to get a FAC for many. It will need to be a properly sanctioned club and you will have to serve a probationary period. You will have to check for Local Gun Clubs, plod will be able to advise you. Couldn’t agree more, that’s how I started out, once probation period is over you can then apply for your FAC, the gun club will tell you how to fill it in and most importantly they will tell you to add all sorts of calibre to it, that way you will not need to send it back for amendments, I still don’t own all
