Let her have a bit of glory. She will settle. I cant understand why everyone always bangs on about retrieving like its the most important aspect for a running dog. Personally I couldnt care a toss if they bring it back or not cos rabbit tastes like shit to me anyway. Why not just enjoy watching her enjoy herself. Be a spectator not a control freak. DON'T LISTEN TO THIS GUY THREBB HE HASN'T GOT A CLUE any dog could catch a rabbit... your talking shit pal the most important thing imo..in a hunting dog is the retrieve and i think everyone will agree.. you go out with your dog catch a rabbit on

Why do you bother then? Why kill them, if you arent going to use them in some manner? Purely for sport Im afraid though im sure the foxes dont mind when they get a free meal. LIKE MY FOOD FROM A BOX. You're right, the foxes prob wont mind, i'm sure it'll help the diseased, old or injured foxes live a bit longer which is probably only good for breeding........ ....but then that idea is probably wasted on you, obviously you have no idea about anything to do with hunting!!!! Im sorry I seem to have upset you in some way. Why do you attempt to insult me for having an opinion.

it depends how much greyhound there is.All running dogs should have plenty of playful galloping as pups. It teaches them to run turn and stop and change gear.Dont be in a hurry to start serious work it could cause injuries that will hold him back or finish the pup for good especially if he is a three quarter greyhound. You should class youre dog as a puppy until he is two years old. thats mentally as well as physically. A running dog should not do serious running work (that is chasing and desperatley trying to catch) until its at least 15 months old because it hasnt yet developed. tendons are

THE three quarter are flying machines with murder in mind. But you need good blood from both sides inc the greyhound. If you already have a good first cross bitch then why dont you find a good grey dog to put to her. You also have to remember injuries are easier to aquire with more grey blood. goodluck

I have just heard that phrase againtoday that a terrier is a neccessary evil to a hunt. Why do some hunting folk talk like that about terriers when if it wernt for terriers they wouldnt have half the sport that they do. Hounds also take credit for everything even when they at least been helped if not saved by terriers on the day yet you rarely see mention of terriers in hunting reports etc. these remarks i make apply more to pre ban days of course but it still annoys because its so unjust. Its a bit of a class thing i suppose.

Could anyone advise me the best way to catch a stoat in a cage trap. Will flesh bait work?

I dont blame you for getting shut of an animal that doesnt work the way you want it.After all its a working animal isnt it.I dont understand this high and mighty attitude of keeping everything for life even if its no good to you.It smells like animal rights to me. Though I do think alot are best put to sleep if they are genrally useless and are in danger of continual moving on or even worse bred from.

Iagree with you there Dave is a real gent and very entertaining. He told me about catching a fox one night on the lamp.It was a great story. He told me exactly the same story in every detail another three times over about two years and each time it had happened "just the other night" priceless

Iam not interested in the dog but curious as to why you are selling him.Is it because he has faults. After all we are discussing D.Platts breeding

If you go there you will get the bullshit and stories and the sales talk and thats all it is. Ask yourself why someone with a genuine good working strain as permanent adverts for pups in earthdog and c/w. I can tell you why.Because the most important thing to them is profit. I dont mean by that there stock is not cared for or that pups arnt in good condition because they are but thats not what you are buying into is it. surely you would want to buy from tested parients not ones that spend most of there life in kennel or in pup. IM AFRAID i SPEAK FROM BITTER EXPERIENCE. They are not the onl
