If you have a couple of hours spare give Mr Burrell A ring and see if you are convinced. Its not the money that bothers me.I think if lurchers were more expensive they wouldnt get passed around so much . With me its the lies and deciept that offend and believe me you will get that in buckets. If a person hasnt worked there dogs in at least 10years why would you want to buy a puppy they have bred. Looking at pedigrees means nothing unless you know the dogs in it or they have a proven track record.

They look great.Im assuming they are scent hounds and will have great voices when working scent. Is curr a breed over there? because I might be missing something in the translation. Curr over here usually means a lowly undesirable kind of mongrel which Im sure those hounds are not. How many do you use on a hunt and how do you stay with them? Do you use quad bikes or horses or just on foot.

im sorry if it seems that way merlin, but im just giving my experince on them. i had a bull x greyhound a while back, raised it from a pup with my kids, he was great wee dog, came from very good foxing lines ect ect. one evening, 7 years ago, my nepfhew called round to have a game of footy with my son. they were having the craic ect, the bull x was in the garden with them. my nephew started clapping his hands, the dog ran up to him and nearly took his arm off, it took 3 of us grown men ( work mates) to get the dog off. the poor lad had to have the arm cut off, due to it being badly crushed to

Both Greys and bulls are easily managed dogs in the right hands. When you cross them there is no diffrence. Personally I think people knocking other dogs and crosses is a bad idea because in most instances they havnt kept that type themselves because they dont like them. Working dogs should be kept as working dogs and a care should always be taken where children are concerned no matter what the breed. When you read about some of these people having there kids attacked you sometimes wonder if they should have the right to have kids never mind keep dogs.

I would agree with DS about the flesh diet. I feed my dogs with 90%chunks of beef or lamb with a broth made from veg and only a sprinkle of bicuit for roughage. I would leave out the broth in youre case for a while and try to get some plain yogurt into it. It does wonders in humans to balance acid levels etc and can almost work overnight.

Thats not good news but thanks for the advice it sound like I ought to be contacting my vet. I was curious to about the hereditary effects. Do you think the sister to this dog could be bred or is she likely to carry the gene from her mother.

Has anyone had experience of a dog without a scrotum still at eight months. Ive been told wait until 12months and if nothing vet can operate to bring em down if they are there but I have also read on tinternet that the dog should automatically be neutered. If anyone has any knowledge or past experience other than "Take him to the vet mate" I would be grateful to hear about it before I speak to a vet.

I agree but I also think EDRD magazine lets itself down by allowing such adds. It contradicts itself and so appears hypocritical which is exactly what it is.

If you have good blood you dont have to keep going out.Thats how youre blood becomes diluted in the first place. Why the permanent add in edrd if profit isnt sort.Surely a good strain needs no adverts.Ask the lady who owns the laguna strain of whippet.

my little bitch was out of a dog from paul burrell apparently the guy i goy the bitch off was a northener but lived in cornwall ,the sire was a whipp/grey he said paul was jeffs brother ,my uncle knew jeff years ago and speaks very highly of him .... Whats that got to do with it?

If anyone has ever had the pleasure or indeed the time to talk to mr Jeff Burrell they will come away (about 3hours later) with a definate assumption that Jeff and family have developed their strainof lurcher over an unbelievably long period of time. What I dont understand is why they all look different. My limited understanding is that a strain must be inbred to be a strain and the purpose of that is to lock in certain good qualities be they mental or/and physical. So is it not inevitable and also desired that a strain or closely related family should resemble each other?and would that strain

Twelsh, Here are a couple of ours: Turk Gravedigger Jr Do you think that collar will hold! -
Any dog that sheds hair should be destroyed

We take chances with working dogs all the time..Lurchers and terriers. There hunting life is full of danger to numerous to mention.Drinking from puddles is probably one of the lesser ones to worry about.
-
If you keep hunting dogs then expect them to hunt. It sounds like you want to ignore them while you work but expect them to stay in neutral. A terrier thrives on scent and needs little stimulation to take things forward. If you are busy why dont you put them up or get a pekanese. SORRY IF THAT CAME OUT AGGRESSIVELY. It wasnt meant to

Let old slick dick and his band of merry men eat rabbit guts in bread crumbs ive just had steak egg and chips with a few peas.... just the job

If the collars done up tight just behind the ears it shouldnt come over.I have had some real big greys going for it but i was always taught to give a little slack now and then.It stops the dog from working it over and wares him out a bit like playing a salmon. Eventually she will realise she cant win. Also it prevents neck injury
-
Let her have a bit of glory. She will settle. I cant understand why everyone always bangs on about retrieving like its the most important aspect for a running dog. Personally I couldnt care a toss if they bring it back or not cos rabbit tastes like shit to me anyway. Why not just enjoy watching her enjoy herself. Be a spectator not a control freak. DON'T LISTEN TO THIS GUY THREBB HE HASN'T GOT A CLUE any dog could catch a rabbit... your talking shit pal the most important thing imo..in a hunting dog is the retrieve and i think everyone will agree.. you go out with your dog catch a rabbit on

A dog that can think whilst running even though hes desperate to kill he can keep his cool and change gear.Like a good grey does on the track or when coursing.Another great quality is soundness which should be taken into account when breeding.

Did the vet advise road walking first to build up before letting off the lead?.....all the best anyhow.....sometimes you have to make a hard decision.
