  1. The kill distance is whatever range you can hit a ten pence piece nine times out of ten. I get the impression that before you go hunting you'll need lots of practice. An experienced hunter will kill rabbits at a maximum range of 35 yards for a standard 12ft/lb rifle. Without sounding like a preacher, it's not fair on the rabbits to achieve anything other than an instant kill. Expect to pay around £500 for a rifle and another £150 for a decent scope.

  3. Good stuff, heard that these are indeed great NV add-ons. What Grade tube did you opt for?
  4. Another vote for the Theoben Rapid (a few pictures below). Superb hunting rifle and I bought mine from Ben Taylor for his legendary "tweaks" to improve performance, including new regulator and numerous other adjustments. I shoot @ 30ft/lbs and @ 34ft/lbs, the latter with Bisley Magnums. (Yes I know I had the bipod round the wrong way in that third pic, hehe). The Rapid is pure brute force, highly accurate and totally dependable. Get on, you won't regret it. Below is a graph showing trajectory of the 30ft/lb pellet (AA Field) compared with the 34/ft/lb Bisley Magnum.
  5. The best rifle is the one you're most accurate with All are perfectly capable of taking vermin -- I owned an Air Arms S410 and it was a great rifle.
