my father and i share the same cabinet and our shotgun & firearms are now identicle. When i bought a my .223 the police said i could keep it in the cabinet but it would have to be chained and padlocked seperately within. the same with the 223 ammo. i did this for a few weeks until my father got his variation to use the 223. the police said that if we want to have 1 cabinet and 1 ammo box then our certs have to be identicle even the ammount of ammo to be stored.if not then seperate locks and chains etc are needed. cheers tone

hi Deker you say that your developing this for shooting accesories and a bit of fishing/archery etc. So i rekon that if it is mainly shooting then i would have that in the name. i voted for shootingstore. i liked the word store because it suggests that there is going to be a good selection of kit. most liked huntershop but i dont think that will google very well. cheers tone

Advice on choosing a scope...
tonetone replied to Dan_Smiff's topic in Reloading and Gun Maintenance
dan i use a niko sterling 3-9 x 40.on my 22lr The 3-9 is the magnification, this means i can adjust the magnification by turning a collar on the scope and the target can look either 3 or up to 9 times larger. the '40' means my scope has a lense diameter of 40mm which is not massive but not bad. i got this scope off ebay and it is quite good but i will probably be replacing this scope sometime in the future because the clarity of the glass is not brilliant and i hate the variable magnification. I shoot rabbits from around 40yds out to 100yds and for me, i think the variable mag is a load of -

i cant really click a vote button John, im a farmer and i control vermin to protect livestock and crops. I cant honestly say i enjoy shooting rabbits or rooks/pigeons that are eating my crops but i need to do it. However, i get great satisfaction in revenge, when i manage to shoot a hoodie crow thats pecked a lambs eyes out. i would go and shoot vermin for somebody else but only if i was paid. cheers tone

i live on a scottish island on the west coast of scotland and we dont have badgers. If we did and they wernt a problem then i would leave them alone BUT if there were far too many or they were causing harm then i would have no problem shooting them. For me it comes down to how rare something is. now and again(about twice a year) i see golden and sea eagles and they are amazing. IF there were hundreds of them and i saw them every day, then they would need controling and they would be shot. I definately dont Fall for the nice wee cuddly animal stuff. tone

i have a 4x28 on my air rifle and it is ok. i also have a 3-9 x 40 on my 22lr. the increase in lense diameter is really noticeable. i would recommend getting the larger lense, they make your field of view better, let in more light even if your magnification is still the same. cheers tone

i agree with jamie g. the Simmons whitetail classic is a good scope, my mate has one on his 223 and it is good quality and clear to look through. i think he got his off e-bay from USA for £110 cheers tone

hi Deker im new to the reloading world, just got my self set up in the last couple of weeks. im loading for 223rem only. i bought a lee kit for around £120 from midway. i think the kit is basic but it seems to have everything to get started. i use nosler 55gr balistic tips which cost 23pence each. i then put in some powder which i have calculated at 11pence a round and also a primer which is 2pence. i already had Federal once fired brass so my reloaded round has cost me 36 pence. i have seen bullet heads for as little as 9pence. all the books tell me that accuracy should be enhanced. My e

hello just been trying out some more reloads same recipie. 55gr nosler balst tip 25.5gr BLC-2 my first 3 shots were at 100yds and i got a nice inch group. the group was a good inch high, which i want! then i shot 2 shots at 200yds and they were exactly an inch and 2/8ths apart. this two shot group was 2inchs LOW. does this sound about right? my CZ is still quite new only fired around 120 shots. cheers tone

sorry forgot; CCI small rifle primers. do you guys buy any of your reloading components(bullet heads, powder) on the web? tone

my rifle is a cz with removeable mag. my first batch of bullets fitted in with about 4mm to spare. i just fired my first 5 bullets at 125 yds. i got each shot within an inch of eachother, probably a 3" group. suppose it could be better. so i need to adjust charge and bullet depth? any ideas wich is better to try first? (BLC2 25.5gr, 55gr nosler balistc tip seated at 2.20col) cheers tone ps. i looked down the barrel after the 5 shots and it looked really clean

hi Peter thanks for your help. going to get that book, it sounds like the kind of thing im after. although ive had a few problems starting out, it was very satisying producing my first 5 complete rounds. gonna try them out on the rifle and probably do a bit of tweeking for my next reloads. thanks again tone

thats exactly whats confusing me! Can anybody recomend me a good reloading manual which describes the various techniques? i have the lee reloading manual and it is 95% charts and 5% text but i dont think its that great it just tells you about the concept and how great lee kit is, rather than how to actually do it. sorry if i sound like a bit of a moaning git! just dont want to waste any more money cheers tone

hi mate my friend has a wtc on his 223 and he likes it a lot. i have shot his rifle and the scope is really good. i think the mag goes up to around 20 somthing? he walks around with it at 9 mag. tone

hi tom i got a CZ varmint a few months ago through edgar bros. i got it screw cut and it was about £500. i think it would be about £60 less if not screw cut. it comes with a 5 round clip which works really nicely. it has dove tail rails to recieve scope mounts but NO open sights. i was told to spend as much as i could afford on the scope so i went for a scmidt- bender 8x56. this was £430. the scope is mounted with tikka mounts and rings, about £50. i really like the rifle and now like the scope, but didnt at first but this was down to my error(was trying to zero far too far) i think the

thanks guys i reset the sizer die to 1 turn extra after touching the shell holder and then used a bit more pressure(says on the instuction at least 25lbs of pressure) it felt right and the case came out looking good and the bullet head would not go in with finger pressure. changed dies and seated the bullet sucessfully. it says COL should be 2.20 inch, the ballistic tips are so long? if i seat the bullet to this depth im worried that it might be too deep. do you guys include the plastic tip in the overall length? im comparing the bullet to an unfired factory federal 55gr and it appears th

hello all having a big problem starting out reloading, my bullet heads are way to loose in the case neck! i can press them in with my little finger infact the bullet virtually falls in. im using a lee kit, deprime and neck-resized my once fired federal ammo. then i primed and charged with BLC-2 (25.5gr) then changed dies to the bullet seater but the 55gr nosler ballistic tip are so loose it is totally impossible to work with. sounds like i need a crimping die?? checked everything and the dies have 223 stamped and the bullet heads have 22 calibre (224) on the box. i have the lee manual which i

hello all, i have just bought a reloading kit and a manual. i have been reading through all the charts etc and have yet to purchase powder and bullets. it seems to mention a few different powder-bullet recipies. but i was wondering if any of you experienced chaps know what my CZ varmint .223 rem would like? my quarry will be corvids/ big gulls/ hares etc 100-200yds. i dont think i need big stopping power or amazing velocity just a recipie that is going to help my accuracy. if any of you could recomend a powder type and a bullet type/weight it would be much appreciated. up till now i have be
