  1. Hi people, it's been a while since my last post and I've had my ups and downs ..but things are on there way up again. Taking sound advice from people on here I set about getting a rabbit skin. The woman who was house sitting for me whilst I was back in UK and has moved to an acreage, phoned, and during our conversation mentioned that her cat (the very same one that belted up my whippet) is bringing home baby rabbits, so I go over there with skinning and ragging in mind. Whilst I was there I was looking at her poultry and picked up a tin sheet to tidy the place up when 3 mice run out...
  2. Hi whippet 99, there's nothing physically wrong with her..no injuries of any sort, she runs very well and I've never seen a dog jump so high and long, she's just not intrested in chasing anything. I dont know anything of her history, so yeah, she could have been abused for chasing whatever animal before I got her...she was very timmid of men when I first got her,I was feeding her out of my hand for about a month before she would come to me without my having food for her, don't know if that's anything to to with it. Will be trying the rabbit lure exercise as soon as poss and will post
  3. Hi people, I want to thank everyone that showed an intrest in my problem and took the time to reply, I am going to answer your questions. Fresh Earth:- Yeah, when I brought he home my flatmates cat did belt het up on her first day..(cat and flatmate are now gone). She is about 9-10 months old now..so hopefully she is just a slow learner. Barnslyben & John rust :-The lure with the rabbit skin is an excellent idea, I'll get on it straight away....no worries of me giving up on her JR, she is my first whippet and I'm giving her a go...she'll be a house dog if she dont make it.
  4. Hi people, I'm wondering if any of you could help me with some advice. I bought a whippet 4 months ago from a couple of women that live by them selves and had her (my whippet)as a pet, and although well looked after and house trained (only a few accidents)and well mannered around people while they're eating and knew how to use the sofa and bed, it was scared wittless of men....I've gotten her over this by hand feeding her on the recomendation of a dog trainer, but she has no intrest in chasing anything. I seen her doing cartwheels infront of lizards (I now live in Australia) and she was runn

  10. That wasn't very nice dee mac was it? This young guy's asked a sensible question and all you've tried to do is ridicule him and in doing so have shown your self up to be the moron that you are. And it seems your an expert on human nature as you presume that all terrier fanciers like terriers because they have been handed down this gift and are somehow genetically different from the rest of the human race, let me correct you, I got into terriers while following a fox hunt my girlfriend was ridding in 35 years ago, no family, no friends. In summing up, I seriously think your a loud mouthed b

  12. Never smoked, and all my mates that have now given up rugby and just go drinking never have or have quite years ago :angel:s all of us. But I do like the smell of cigars or a pipe and miss these at Christmas ...in fact I like the smells so much I once persuade a girlfriend of mine to smoke a pipe for me , which was good of her, but her "smokers breath" drove a wedge between us  and our affair ended figwood
  13. I don't know, are vets in it for the animals welfare or money? They have to make a living I suppose, but £45 to put a rabbit down is a lot of wedge...what if your you cant afford the money, is the vet morally bound to put it down or will they just send you away with it so it can die a slow death? figwood
