    I have just bought a mod that fits both my 243 and my 308, it is a 30 cal mod, but does a pretty good job on the 243.

    I have a restricted FAC for my .243 but have just been given permission to shoot vermin and deer on two new farms, is it just a case of informing the FA Officer of my new permission or do I need to do anything else?

    Some shooting, have a 243 what load and power do you use, zeroed mine in yesterday and shot a 2" group at 100yrds and was thrilled until i just saw your post, i think i need a bit more practice.

    Baldie, thanks for the advise, could i get around the problem by shooting a lighter bullet weight? At the moment i use a Federal 95g ballistic tip but have just started home loading, if i went down to a 87g v-max or even a 75g bullet would I need less powder, thus it should all burn in barrel? I use my .243 mainly for vermin but i do want to be able to knock over a Roe if i see one, so i can not go too light. Thanks Jon

    Am thinking about cutting my barrels down to 20" on both my 243 and 308 to make it better balanced with the mod, currently 22", tend not to shoot further than 200yrds with either rifle, is this a good idea?

    I have already asked which moderator people like, I have narrowed it down to three, ASE Utra, A-Tec and the Stealth Compact, all three have lots of supporters, does anyone shoot a Blaser and have a preference? I will use it for fox and deer. Thanks Jon.

    I was kinda thinking by the time ive set up the tripod i would end up being busted by the deer.Ive tried the bipod but am all over the place with them. I guess im going to have to practice in the off season. Thanks for your thoughts and reply Dwight Dwight, I had the same problem with bipods and moved over to a tripod, it is home made by a friend of mine and is made up of 3 adjustable fishing poles with a swivel top, with a fishing pole runner to rest the rifle, on i find it is quick and easy to use and great for both day and night.     since both are diffrent have diffrent muzzle energy, you will need 2 mods or a similar rifle that has a similar dia barrel on both, & a well built 308 mod , will do the job for the 243, plinker also try the T8 series on the magnum side.. or get in touch with an expert on a shoot site forum by the name of DM80 ..     Deker, I use the .243 most of the time for fox and roe/fallow and some very limited red hind stalking, only bought the 308 because it belonged to a mate who wanted a 30.06 for boar and some african stuff, and thought it would be a good calibre to have if ever i go and shoot boar or get to shoot some big buck/stags. I have a Swarovski 8-56 which is great. I have heard very good things about the Ase range which one do you use as i have only been told about the Jet-Z and the S5. Do you not think you one moderator will do both well enough? Thanks Jon Jet-Z and the S5. They do
