id say £250 -£300 there are very few makers that will follow what you want that close , its still an art form and most want to have there stamp on it . thats a bold statment on the schrade knife !! all knives could be better , and bladesmiths and knife makers will allways find fault on any knife . is it because its cheap and does the job that its so good ? not many knives could with stand 30 years of use , wear and tear and re sharpening , in the 5 years i was a butcher iv never seen the knives we used most, last longer than a year , and as you know there allways sharp or sharper th

well they came ............................ they where rude , up tight and came across like id would be lucky to get it . im abit heart broken . piss poor service i think , keys are to be kept out of sight or on me at all times with the spare set to be locked in a trusted friends gunsafe only . i was shocked to find i will have no more contact at all from them with out any follow up at all , other than a letter to say your shit out son , in 2 weeks or a shotgun certificate in 4 weeks !! im no angel but have lived a squeeky clean life for 11 years and never been charged or caurtioned ever -

my first axe with damascus cutting edge .
midnight replied to midnight's topic in Countryside Skills, Craft & DIY
just a single wedge . i dont know if i mentioned this before but i was a stone mason , and have put handles on loads of hammers over the years , so thats why it was my biggest fear cos every one iv done has ended up with 5 screws drilled into it ha ha . iv been shown how to do it properly and still cant do it . so i thought il take an engineering aproach and go belt and braces . wedge . apoxi and pin it , then oil soak . that should fix the bugger . of course i should forge it right so that the head will accept the shaft like a pic axe does , with the hole at the top of the axe head being -

im glad you saw it mike . so its around the size you liike thats good . leave it with me . iv just used it for an hour in the garden prooning roses horrible buggers . any way it cut beautifuly , but my worst fear was confirmed , the head has come off the shaft !! so im going to drill through the lot and put a single brass pin through it , if and when the shaft snaps its will be easy to remove with a centre punch and replace but the b*****d will not come of again ha ha i have to order alot of metal over the next few weeks , i will try to make sure i get the right stuff for more of these -
nice the cameras working out well for you . make a lovely house that barn !!

my first axe with damascus cutting edge .
midnight posted a topic in Countryside Skills, Craft & DIY
hello everyone this is my first axe , its style is confused as i dont really know one axe from another , but i t has influenses from every axe iv seen subcontously i supose . its all hand forged from, 1018 for the main "body" of the head with a 15n20 and 01 twisted billet of damascus for the cutting edge , i think its called punch and swadged ? any way i made a hole with a cold chisel and forged a mandrel from a spike off a digger bucket and hammered it through and forged round it to get the hole . and then after alot of hammering and heating i had a good enough shape to weld in the damascus- 15 replies

midnight replied to midnight's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
ped non ped what ever , my last bitch was a non ped flapping track bred bitch and stood at 17" not an attractive animal ha but fast as hell . she would over shoot when stuff jinked , tumble get back on her feet and be on terms with it again in a blink of an eye . how do you find out more about the non ped stuff you guys just mentioned ? i might want a stud in 6 months and a small fast performance whippet would be superb for what im thinking . all the best , matt. -

i promice yopu wont do it mate , beleave me i have tried , you will need to aneal the steel . most steel that means get it so hot its no longer magnetic then cool useing wood ashes or leave it in the forge with doors shut and let it cool from critical (none magnetic ) to room temp over as long a periode as possible , i aim for over 8 hours or more to aneal mine . then you can drill it , but you will need to heat treat and temper all over again !!! i would get a dremel and the carbide bits or diamond if i could get them , tape the blade and gently work my way through with the carbide . if i

thanks mike this lot are popular , if you want to pm me about them , iv had a good few inquires so far . hatchet il will as allways try to keep them as cheap as possible . a couple of my mates have thos scandi ones and although nice with some nestalga to them i was not overy impressed , they dont hold an edge very long , and to say they have massive factory with huge tooling machines there pretty crude !! mine will be more early european wrap and weld style with damascus or carbon cutting edge enough to last 100 years is my plan . mine is awsome , i still cant beleave iv made an axe (child h
