Stabba it's the knife that has a shortish wide blade , it's my mistake I ment 3" drop point . The none bushcraft style of the group. ! Sharpening , I'd go with a Japanese whet stone around 600 grit and a bench grinder with cotton buffing wheels and green compound ( machine mart do a mop set very affordably ) you will never look back !! I'm pleased your happy with it . Nice weight to them I agreed !! All the best. Matt -

Yeah it's a magic trick, the buffer !!!! american makers dont like it they like to have a blade with microscopic serated blades , fresh of the grinder or whet stone . i duno why . i duno if folks know this but a steel you a butcher or chef might use is only really polishing a thou of blade beval , you really dont want course steels they do more harm than good ! Here's part two guys http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?feature=youtube_gdata_player&v=fqgSrJIpWcY&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DfqgSrJIpWcY%26feature%3Dyoutube_gdata_player&gl=GB i hope its worth the effort ? i know its mor -

Thanks gin . Mickey polishing that could be really hard now the handles are fitted ! But it could be done , I would wrap the handle in denim and clamp it in a vice that is well secured . Then start with 120grit sand paper with a hard backing , like a file . And work in one direction the hole blade . Aply pressure and get the hole thing flat . I can't stress enough how you really need to keep the direction you work exactly the same . Next move to 240 grit do exactly the same thing but in a totally new direction same rules be strict get it right. . Then move to 400 grit , new direction . It' -

I have a couple cut out in damasteel that I need to send off for heat treat , but no iv not done anything like it . It's loads and loads of grinding and cymatry work . They would need pre heat treat grinding and any warp throughout that proses would f**k it all up , so until now iv saved myself the pain of defeat ! All the best , matt -

Yeah does it feel blade heavy/ handle heavy or about right ? It's a really hard thing to get right it think it comes along by luck not judgement !! It is a long bladed knife but the tang is nice And thick . Looks really good tho . You will have to come over some time do one from scratch !!

Sorry guys I think there was a misunderstanding I don't mean I'd sell the burl one for £25 I mean £25 is as cheap as I can sell a finished knife. f**k no il keep the burl one if it won't sell for £75 The £25 comment was aimed at what knives I can make you might buy ! Me lets gutters etc . -

Thanks Liam !! Sorry fellas I kill tools so fast I need a shop bought machine for the warranty . Also I wanted a larger machine that can handle the work load as the small ones just can't !! Nobody fancy the thuya burl knife at that price ? I'm pretty shocked !! What sort of thing you guys looking for and what budget ? Il warn you £25 is the bloody Limet for me really due to material cost ! -

That's a great recommendation thanks guys !! Iv got a problem fellas my pillar drill just went up in smoke so gotta raise funds !!!! So just for tonight the dagger ground knife from back a page with kydex £30 posted and the feildcrafter with thuya burl and leather sheath £75 . If there not sold tonight at them prices il keep um and find the money another way. !! -
They don't last long I find so if you buy one make sure you get your years warranty I just killed my second one in 2 years !! The speed control is useful on them , and there are sellers on eBay that offer belts from 30 grit ceramic to 400grit aluminium oxide very cheaply in mixed bundles of your choice . That a few clamps some good apoxie and a handful of sand paper will see you through the job .

best is a proper linishing machine but there expensive , i used to use a black and decker power file , rasps, sandpaper , disks on an angle grinder you name it , if i had to pick one id say the black&decker would be my choice if i dint have the machine i do . you will amased how good you get at controlling the machine and how close to finnished you get with it , then hand sand for a nice finnish .

I will have some bits and bobs for sale end of the week if that helps ? I'm happy to help you get started just ask questions and you will get flooded with answers . It's a mine field topic , one that's easy to get lost in . But lots of guys on here are learning and producing some great work! And enjoying the production of something they can and do use . Buying a blank and handling it is a great place to start as the hard bit is done , as you progress you might want to forge a knife or make o e from reclaim steel , me and other guys can help with any of those options . Good luck !! All the

your welcome . just the dagger ground knife left £60 posted and this pair £90 each posted due to material cost and finnish . this pair are ground to 400grit with true saber grinds (evil sharp) with raw finnish to the flats (looks bead blasted so you wont scratch it !) one is dressed in samba stag (no longer imported) and very expensive in the higher grades as this was due to density and size needed to make scale from . with 3x 4mm brass pins and 8mm thin wall lanyard tube . this is chunkcy heavy strong knife it feels great in the hand and would catch anyones eye.!! £90 posted which is st -
