  1. Good luck with the kit. Steve at Tayside runs a good rescue and will make sure he gets a good/suitable home
  2. Good job you got her in when you did. Hope she recovers quickly
  3. Glad to hear she's seen the vet Jazz. Hope the antibiotics work well and she's fit and well in no time
  4. well if you do find a good ferret vet hang on to them Found our exotics vet over 8 years ago, and although they're a bit pricey (over £24 now for a consult), I wouldn't change. She's a brilliant vet and really knows her stuff as far as ferrets are concerned
  5. Great pictures. Your hob running away with his catch must have been a funny sight. He definitely didn't want to let that one get away
  6. Well, I'm struggling to believe that bit, because it doesn't make sense. However, if Jazz had no money to pay for her to be seen at the time, then I guess it's a possibility
  7. Most vets', even if not open all day at the weekends, have an emergency clinic for an hour or so. Failing that, they should have a number on their answer machine that gives details of where to take an animal in an emergency. Animals don't just get sick on a week day, so there should always be some provisions for weekends. Mine are only open for an hour and a half for emergencies on weekends, but there's still an emergency vet hospital's details left on their answer machine for out of hours calls.
  8. glad you said that i didnt want to create a scene I really wanted to ask about that too. Thanks pitindall
  9. Any news on the vet visit? Hope he's OK.
  10. I don't like water bottles either. Used them for a few years, then started wondering if they were actually drinking enough to compensate for all the dried food they were eating. So started using bowls instead and have used them ever since. Good idea to have a bottle as a backup though Now mine aren't eating any dried food though, they drink very little water anyway, because most of what they need is in their food. Nice cover Sue. Hope it works well
  11. Ahhh how sweet As for people keeping jills and kits on their own, perhaps things have happened in the past. Maybe other jills and hobs have killed kits. I can't see that it's just a myth born out of nowhere.... However, I'm quite sure some will be fine. Nothing is set in stone. Maybe, space plays a part. Rather than a crowded hutch, there's a good sized living accommodation, so all the ferrets can be in different areas if they choose. Anyway, whatever the reason things have worked out fine, they're all looking fab, Stubby
  12. Yep, sounds like it's hormonal to me too, Kay. Has she been with a hob, or jill-jabbed recently?
  13. Here's a link to a few studies on nutritional values of whole prey (including DOCs, rabbits, mice etc) for anyone that's interested It's in pdf format. You need to scroll down quite a way to get to the nutrition tables. http://www.nal.usda.gov/awic/zoo/WholePreyFinal02May29.pdf
  14. Wow that's pricey. It's very nice though and I assume good quality for that price. So it should last
