  1. .22lr50yds,hmr100yds, fac air 50-55yds opps .22 cf 100yds too
  2. The trigger on the .22lr is two stage Jamie. Agreed on the stock front the thumhole version is more of a full size fit. These came out later on in production, though custom thole stocks are available at a price.
  3. Deker There's a few pics of the wooden quad and varmints on guntrader, so they are in the shops Neil
  4. The annie 64 XIV is an excellent package and has the best trigger of them all.
  5. cheers Pete the best way i find is gut them when there still warm. get a sharp knife and make a small cut just below the rib cage about an inch long put 2 fingers in and rip the belly open. then put 3 fingers between liver and gut and pull. that's the way i did it when i was doing 200 a day every day. they don't smell as bad when still warm. good luck! Yep use the same technique, though I leave the liver in and pull on the stomach. When I've got a few to do I tend to nick and tear the skin of them all, then thread 4 necks at a time between the
  6. See above post If you have a variation for .22lr then you can buy either bolt. semi, straightpull,or lever action. The variation is for the calibre not the action. The sako will be a quality item out of the box, the 10/22 may or may not take a serious amount of work to get it to do what you want. Bearing in mind a fully sorted custom 10/22 could cost in excess of £800 and all you may have left of the existing rifle is the mag. sako/10/22
  7. Although the hmr comes in a tipped format, that is no 100% gaurantee that it won't ping off depending on what it hits. Having said that, the .22lr is almost gauranteed to ping off on hard ground. Remember the .22lr is 100ftlb and the hmr round is 250ftlb and the later will go further all things being equal. A ricochet from a .22lr sub can easliy go 250yds and even come back towards you. So think backstops.
  8. .17hmr for long range rabbits and crows, .22lr for closer rabbits and at night when noise could be an issue. Not been unknown to get a knock back on hmr for new ticket holders, but that depends on the land you have and the residing police force. In any advent, just re-apply for the hmr six months down the road. Neil
  9. Go for both, the .22lr is not a 150yd bunny basher in the real world. The .22lr sub drops like a brick after 100yds. Neil
  10. That's an exceptional bag for Essex land.
  11. Those are usual conditions. At least you have an open ticket as per the first condition.
  12. fps x fps x weight(GN) / 450240 ie 600x600x14.3 divided by 450240 =11.43ftlb.
  13. Rounds every time. Flats will loose speed very quickly over a distance. Points don't have a good a a bc as rounds and can self steer if the point is off centre or damaged. The less knocks your pellets have the tighter the groups. What look like unmarked pellets that have been rattling about in your pocket will group substantially large than those fresh from a tin. Neil
  14. All springers and rams are hold sensitive. With a top quality unit the accuracy can be on par with pcp. The fly in the ointment is the nutt behind the butt. Any muppet can shoot a pcp reasonably well, but someone who can shoot a springer to its limits are in another league.
  15. Have a look here for a day/night scope. http://www.nvscopes.com/night%20vision%20s...0HTH%20752.html
  16. As above, but occasionally one gets the dreaded cross over.
  17. Wow That's going to be some skinning session. Not done more than 30 at a time myself and I was proper fudged. I've always wondered if there's a commercial tool that speeds up the process in some way.
  18. Sometimes you have to go backwards to go forwards. Start off with upperbody shots again to get your confidence back. Concentrate on the basics of marksmanship ie hold smooth trigger release and follow through. Sounds like your having a battle in your mind between is the shot safe, whilst trying to concentrate on delivering the shot. Get the safety assessment done and out of the way before you settle for the shot, but keep an eye out for wandering idiots.
  19. When you start stretching the range, a laser range finder is invaluable as the .22lr has quite a loopy trajectory especially beyond 80yds with a 50yd zero.
  20. I'm afraid it don't work that way. There's no way to tell the best ammo for your rifle with out card time and a good selection of quality ammo.
  21. Eley's expand like mushrooms compared to lapua hp subs, though the lapua gave supreme accuracy in my rifles.
  22. I would go for the bottle Jack, unless filling is a big problem in your location.
  23. A "wump" noise is usually associated with a gut shot, so I reckon your aim is off for some reason.
