  1. There's a lot more to consider than power when going fac air. Power without accuracy is just hot air. The most popular power output is around 30-34ftlb. neil
  2. I would go for an Air Arms TX200, a bit dearer than above, but quality and will last.I bought one of these for a mate to shoot rabbits in his garden. Easy to shoot for a springer and accurate as a pcp. neil
  3. Stick to clean compressed air, industrial gases have various grades and the cheap ones will contain dust, which will muller seals.
  4. Rapid way to go. :yes:I have just such a piece of land and the fac rapid comes out 90% of the time despite having .22lr,hmr,.223 to play with.
  5. Is the rifle fuel efficient as any excess air being blown out will increase the muzzle blast significantly and will be harder to mod. neil
  6. There is a good article on the shooting times web site on low power subs. The long and short of it they were all carp much over 25/ 35yds. Iirc only eley zimmers were any cop, but they would still suffer from ping off. There are some new on the street segmented rounds from cci which are supposed to break up on impact, but if you have close housing. safety first. Sounds like an ideal place for fac air or an alternative like ferreting?
  7. I saw them demoed at the mgf, waited till I got home to have a measure up. Forgot to measure the car boot, never mind
  8. Try nightvisionsupplies.co.uk , very helpful. and they will demo units if you can get to them. Seeing is believing as they say. neil
  9. Having worn out several bags, cheap and mid range I decided to bite the bullet and order a aim field 50". Not cheap, but quality never is, neither is dropping a 2k sako out of a worn bag. Plenty of storage in the pockets, substancial back straps and heavy duty zips. Internal straps to secure the rifle in the bag and external straps to double secure the zip line. neil
  10. the 10.5 barracudas and similar will have a trajectory very similar to a light .20 cal pellet. On the other hand a light .177 pellet (prems, jsb) will be better, typically zeroed at 40yd, drop to 50 would be 1.5 to 2", an inch high at 30 and bang on at 12 yds with normal height mounts. As said above .177 is all you need on the right spot.
  11. I would go for .177 first as there are a greater selection of "good" pellets to choose in light and heavy config. There are not that many "good" .20 cal pellets in the lighter range, I can think of only hnft as the main stay. By good I'm meaning a high bc and accuracy past 30yds. Remember that hnft run at only around 685fps for 12ftlb@11.45gn. There are several more which are more suitable for fac and these would be barracuda, premier and jsb. I'm not knocking .20 cal as I have one already and recentl
  12. I've had ns156 and atn390 dedicated gen 1, but now use a merlin cobra add on and 90mw laser on a fac rapid with 4-12x40 trophy scope and a 75mw ir led for close ratting. Also sees service on a .22lr. neil
  13. When Mr feo comes around, you can seek his advice and amend .222 to .223 as required as he will have the paper work with him.
  14. Clive does some low adaptors at nvscopes.com. Whether they are any good for your setup, don't know. My advice would be keep it as low to the bore as poss for better handling neil
  15. I had a rat running across our "estate" from next doors decking. Had the traps out, but to no avail. After a lot of faffing about finally used a pir set up and nv to nail the 14" head to tail specimen.
  16. .177 40yds@11ftlb .177/.22@55yds on fac.
  17. Dm80 or whisper would be my choice should I buy again. neil
  18. A pcp is a lot easier to extract accuracy from as it's a lot less hold sensitive. An air efficient pcp can be moderated very well. A pcp with a magazine allows the possibilty of taking a second rabbit if it pauses at the burrow. A good fac pcp will reach out to 75yds in calm conditions. Neil
  19. I use a merlin with a 90mw ir laser, cost all in was about £560 iirc from nv supplies ltd. 100yds with a compatible scope is no problem, but remember you need to know whats behind too and at 150yds you may only catch the glint of an eye. Btw a 75mw ir will get you out to about 35yds, I have one for ratting. Laser and led are not comparable mw wise and the outputs quoted can be misleading. The 450mw atn ir led that fits on the 390 paladin will get you out to 35yds too. Had one of those too. Nei
  20. Best bullet is the most accurate one in your rifle. Try a selection of the top makes, winchester ,eley or lapua are a good start. No point in stocking up until you have found the best one. Some makes shoot to the same poi some don't.
  21. Bisleys are around 21gn and speed of sound around 1125fps; so your motoring along . I prefer my fac rapid on my golf course due to a selection of footpaths crossing. Use an nv addon to good effect.
  22. I've had a newcon ns156, ATN390 and now use a merlin add on monocular with a 90mw laser. Works for both air and .22lr rimfire.
  23. Trigger kit available from SYSS. Original Brookes kits seems hard to source. Quite easy to fit just got to tap out one of the pins which can be stuborn. Ten minute job iirc. It is possible to catch the fired bullets undamaged if you are suspecting the barrel or mod.
