wheaton powder puff balls, the working wheaton which there some strains around are as game as any staff or pitbull and some lads breed true working type and i seen a dog call bear work and maybe if bushranger saw this dog he might change his opinon about the breed.kerrys just about good guard dogs and will mind property well but workers no, show yes and breeders no problem charging 600euros a pup which equates to roughly 550 sterling nice money if thats your game and maybe thats all they should be considered for. give me a true working dog, border which are getting harder to find, paterdales,

good guard dog thats about it, i hav,nt seen a working one in nearly 30 years ans i don,t trust them around small dogs, kids or livestock snappy and cranky b*****ds, better off with a wheaton working type or glen of imal or irish terrier where there might be still a few working strains left and even there hard to find. wheaton best bet, lad lives beside me and his kerry blue keeps trying to kill my border bitch so have to always have blackthorn stick handy.
-
good border dogs are hard to get and 700 euros is not big money for the right dog. trial given so the man must be geniune, i have 3/4 border 1/4 red fell bitch and have mated with the burrowmans good border dog. chap with the laois hunt has excellent border dog good in a hole and hes dug to 2 to 3 times a week in the hunting season. i havent seen to many good borders in my 25-30 years hunting and could count on one hand the ones i would have liked in my yard. so dehoff the best of luck with the sale and i hope he goes to to a person whos fond of the breed and admire there working qualities

had a good springer dog who done a cruciate in leg, spend a fortune trying to get him right but had to give up as he was never the same again, the dog was,nt content to be a pet roared the house down when i went hunting, had to make a tough choice when he started getting narky with other dogs when not allowed to go hunting and finally had to put him to sleep, but every case is different get a second opnion and think it through as 3 grand is a lot of money and would buy a good replacement dog
