each dog will probably give a different reaction,it could do anything from;scrat at the set, winge, hope fully not bark,or even just stare at the set.my bed/whippet actually bites the earth around the set and iv'e even tried to prove him wrong on a number of occasions and have yet failed to do so,i trust his judgement a 100% like i said earlier you get to know how to read your dog in time, good luck

do u think i should use two ferrets alright matty g, i would probably recommend getting a nice little dog in to set the rabbit earths for you to save you netting all the holes up for nothing,a good little rabbiting russel or a bedlington type lurcher to tell you if there is anything in.you will get to trust your dogs judgement and be able to read his reactions, even though there is fresh rabbit muck outside the sets doesn't mean that theres rabbits in.
  5. thats the idea lurcherman, its a confidence boost for the pup,ive always dropped rabbits on nuetral land at this age.you might not agree but its my way and ive had good results over the years so why change my schooling methods.looker you take a 5 month old pup and run rabbits on their own land and their terms and conditions we'll say your going to cause problems, your going to dishearten your pup at this very tender age so all im trying to do is to build the pups confidence up at this very important time. cheers shaun, sorry to hear about your old bitch [bANNED TEXT],exellent bitch in her
  6. you silly little man my mates pups only 5 months old,how old are your dogs when you take them out to work in their own world as you say,you might have jackers boy but i don't.ive fetched hundreds of pups up over 20 years and ive always done it this way and i wont change now for the likes of you, your entitled to your opinion but keep the feckers to ye self :realmad: :realmad:
  7. went ferreting this afternoon with all intensions to fetch some live ones back for the pups this one come out of a bolt hole that we didn't see as you might of guessed my mates camera shy we managed to get 4 live ones for the pups but by the time we got home it was dark so we had to use the lamp which didn't make any difference the pups done well
  8. i can't see if its a dog or a bitch but its nice anyway
  9. alright P.W ive never had the oppurtunity to see sooty sam when he was alive but my mate went down to micks at wales to collect a 2 year old whippet bitch up a few months ago and seen all the photos and coursing/racing trophys, very sad loss but he'll live on in his progeny.
  10. HI Marco they are Sooty Sam bloodlines which are a working line based on the old Laguna blood i have just mixed these lines with the Parkstone Racing lines this pup is 6 months old This one is line bred Sooty Sam two weeks older hi P.W nice looking pups [bANNED TEXT] the black one looks like my little 10 month old laguna/sooty sam bitch out of lord of the knight,iv'e also got a black/white lynnperry/laguna/sooty sam 3 year old dog out of silver tounge of lynnperry.
  11. welcome [bANNED TEXT] hows your whippets bred
  12. i dont think you'll be dissapionted irg they are perfect for what you want them for, good luck with the mating.....im going to put my bed/whip 1st x dog back to my laguna/sootysam whippet bitch as soon as she breaks down
  13. great pictures again lads
  14. or you could say your easily pleased. You are a knocker Mush and I bet you arent out of your teens, sometimes it's better just to keep your mouth shut if you haven't got anything interesting to say than to go on and on looking more like a complete **** with evrything you post. ill second that nightwalker just another little wind up merchant probably never seen a lurcher work,he,ll be one of these thats read all the books.
  15. yep seen that video, and didn't think much of them, or the two 1/2 beds I've owned or the other half breds I've seen on rabbit and hares. 1/4 breds are a hell of a lot better but lack stamina. ye seem hard to please mush
  16. ive tried to stay out of this one as its getting a bit contrivertshal but just speaking off experience ive had nearly every cross of lurchers over the years some big and some small,ye a 23in lurcher will probably lamp better than a 30in lurcher but a 30in lurcher will pull a fallow down better than a 23in lurcher its swings and round abouts,im not takeing sides but just to give you an example,i suppose youv,e all seen the old lamping mania video theirs a 291/2 deerhound/greyhound on their called axle and it picks rabbits up on piece probably better than its 25in litter sister that features
  17. MIDNIGHT RUNNER-If you want to end up in court possibly then follow the previous post but if you want a dog to be proud of then just take the pup with you on walks/ hunting outings to get it used to the sights and sounds of country life.7 months old is about right to take the pup ferretting for it to see rabbits up close without it overstretching itself.DO NOT let the pup have any strenuous exercise at this age as it could damage the diaphram irripairably.Im guessing the pup will make about 23/24 inches high which although not massive ,puts it in the easily damaged by overexertion category. T
  18. alright m.runner personaly i would of showed it something by now, what i normally do is from day one tease it with rabbit skins every other day wright up to 5-6 months, then i will drop a couple of live rabbits in a confined space not to much of a run but a chase and kill.then i would leave it off till about 9-10 month and drop a few live rabbits in a big field on nutral ground.now realy your away, just lamp it lightly for the next couple of month and hopefully thats it.to be honest i dont normally show mine a day time hare until 13-14 month if i can help it,good luck with the pup, marc
  19. sorry lads couldn't resist,a couple of katies ran into the dogs mouth of course we had standing guns :no,im pleased realy because its the first hares iv'e had with them,as for temprement becks there perfect.
  20. now becks you can,t go far wrong with the bed/whippet 1st x heres a few pictures of my little 20in 1st x dog good luck with the missus p.s the winds howling so im going to have a quick walk out with the lamp so hopefully ill have a couple of pictures to show you when i get back.
  21. im sorry to hear about your [bANNED TEXT] dog,it sounds as though its happening the lenght and breadth of the country fecking wenkers,im just on building some new dog runs on a little bit of land right opposite my house and security is my main priority but just to top it off im going to get the biggest, ugliest fecking rottwieler i can find to watch the place, pinching off their own lower than low. :aggressive: :black eye: :realmad:
  22. apart from lames dogs , fines and a driving fecking ban im ok, ye dogs are looking well the reason i didnt think it was you, is that the dogs look fit i know i can't understand it myself,i wouldn't care theirs not many bins down here where i'm at :11:
