  1. Are the batch numbers the same on each box? Had this problem with 22rim once. Now I re-zero every time I start a new batch of ammo, it pays in the long run just as you start a new box when you are out it gives you confidence when you take a shot.
  2. Nice shot Mr Logic, cracking animal. Looks like he didnt feel a thing. I would be pleased with that shot, good start with the .243.
  3. Years ago my brother was night fishing in the fens, he went to throw some groundbait in and as he reached to his bucket it had grown a fur coat . When he looked it was a fat coypu munching on the sweetcorn . He grabbed a bankstick gave it a few cracks across the head. He didnt stay till morning as he hates rats and these looked like rats on steroids.
  4. A mate of mine kept pigeons, he said that a court case involving a pigeon racer and the RSPCA was thrown out of court because when the bloke had shot a cat it was killed instantly and did not suffer so he couldnt be done for cruelty, another waste of tax payers money.
  5. Its a shame the migrant workers dont like them, they eat our carp and swans, the only thing the chinese dont eat with four legs is a table.
  6. Well done mate, nice workout for you!
  7. Find out if there are any local lads working terriers, the local hunt or at your local gamefair go to the terrier shows, have a chat to people. You have got to remember that so people have had their fingers burnt by antis and twats that f##k up permission . Dont take it to heart if you get the cold shoulder , some people will give you advice and help out, its a hard job to do but do it right and you cant go wrong .
  8. My mate went out with two brothers (both in their late sixties) shooting pigeons, they always said it was the cartridges that killed the bird/animal not the size of the gun. I have shot 12g, 20g and 410s since I was 14, it is personal preference most of the time that counts, what you are comfortable with and how good you are with the gauge size. I cant shoot any gun bigger than a 410 for a few months had to sell my 20g because the kick would damage my shoulder after having surgery , not everybody that has a 20g is a whimp. Its not how big the gun is, its the way you shoot it
  9. Found a few old bottles, tins and general farm junk, also found a pike, 2 roach and half an eel when we dug a vixen on a fen shoot once. The eel wasnt jellied
  10. I agree, re-run Out of Town, I loved it when you could see Jack read of the boards behind the camera
  11. I have a .22 shotgun, has a short barrel on it so its on the firearms ticket. I to used it for killing foxes at the end of a dig, it takes a .22 short or long. I have killed rats close range before with dust shot.
  12. Sounds like a gold mine Ditch, I love gunshops like that jewels encrust the whole of the place. When I was 15 I went to a gunshop in suffolk it was like walking into a grotto, rifles shotguns pistols and plenty of other people young and old drooling just like me. I can picture myself with you, you certainly can tell a story.
  13. Looks like you had a great day, top pics . I loved going ratting it was the first hunting I did with my terriers as a boy.
  14. Thats just what I did when I first got my .22lr did the job fine but didnt push it to far 100 yards max, had a lot of foxes with it but got myself a .222 and a .243 for fox /deer. Now I only have the.22lr and the .17hmr both have their jobs mostly rabbits hares and the odd close fox.
  15. I suppose it depends on the references that are given on your behalf as well , my mates son had some health issues and had trouble getting a shotgun cert because of the pills they gave him were used for metal health problems too . He got it in the end but had a hard fight.
  16. My mate has a custom ruger, he shot my anschutz 1417 at the weekend and now is thinking of swapping for a bolt action. He seems to be paranoid about it jamming and that puts him off.
  17. I was told by my firearms officer to keep the .22lr and get the .17hmr as well. They have different uses and are both great in their own right . We are quite flat in Cambridgeshire so the firearms department like the idea of a round that doesnt ricochet.
  18. Its days like that which keep us doing the job, great shooting well done lads
  19. Cheers everyone for your input, I will take note and choose wisely camgun!!
  20. I use a Tracer Max, its paid for its self already with just the rabbits I shot. Picks up foxes a treat doesnt seem to spook them. Not much weight to them and easy to clip on/off. Cost about £46 just for the light got the batteries off ebay.
  21. I will look at that one aswell and keep you informed. Cheers Airgunner
  22. I had a look at one the other week, nice looking rifle. Cheers stillair1
